People keep on saying it id so sad. Has anyone considered that maybe he is relieved, less stressed out and happier now that he doesn't have to constantly either try to avoid the only thing that seems to alleviate his grievous anxiety or avoid the ever looming drug test. He is set for life financially. I bet he can now live a fairly normal content life without football. He seems far better off on every level than ATV guy for example.

I might agree, but if that is the case why does he keep trying to play?

Yeah I thought about that. Either he thinks he can finally beat it or he's feels the pressure that everybody thinks he's crazy if he doesn't try continue to be an NFL football player

he has to face his life post-football. What skill set does he have that will transition him out of the NFL into the private sector? Broadcasting is likely out. Coaching? Not now. Anything football related is likely tainted now. He needs to do something or he'll likely sit around and burn through his $$. We've seen that movie too many times. Football gave him a lifestyle, financial independence, now he has to face a daunting reality it's over, with no next steps plan (that we are aware of, although he may have one) which could possibly increase his anxiety. Boredom, money and pot is not a good combination for anyone. At least football should have kept him focused, although it clearly didn't. What I don't get is, he knows he has a target on his back, and yet... he does the same ole same ole. What outcome did he expect? Or want?

If be didn't want to play he could've quit long time ago. No questions asked. I said this was going to be his toughest challenge. The Hawks put all the responsibility on him. And he failed. I don't think it is sad. I am disappointed we don't have him for the playoffs. That high bastard can play football. He was just starting to get comfortable with the offense.

You what they say about people who assume. PED's are not Pot. PED's can be anything. PED's could be Tylenol for godsake. Has he really gotten help & has it been the right help? If it was an opioid problem I could maybe see that. Since the league doesn't disclose anything why don't we stop assuming for the moment. Maybe it's as simple as moving on to the next phase of his life. How many players plan for life after football. If we knew exactly what he took then we'd all have a better understanding of the situation. Does he get another chance. Hard to say. If it's Pot, that's his own damn fault. Should it be taken off the banned substance list, yes. Just something to look at when it comes to the CBA.

This^^^^^^^ the league doesn't disclose what it is. Why are some of you so quick to discount the insiders when it's football information but this you are taking their word as gospel?

I don't think there is any way in hell he was taking an actual performance enhancing drug. Like I said before probably a masking agent for pot.

If there is something that is sad, its the fact that if the NFL didn't criminalize pot like MLB he wouldn't have been suspended he would have kept smoking pot and playing football and there would have been zero harm done to him or anyone else.

I assumed he was a great natural athlete that didn't need PEDs. If he was actually taking PEDs as well to double his chances of getting caught for the 8th time he truly is an imbecile.
