Aren't most colleges run by the state (or are private)? If so, isn't he stepping on the states toes on how they want to run their colleges.

He can deny student loans to schools that don't meet certain criteria, but to fire state employees, I don't know about.

They are not federal employees, accreditation is carried out by organizations and businesses, I believe some are nonprofit others profit. There's regulations carried out by the federal government, we love regulations, probably the department of education, a well loved regulatory agency. Believe that would be the angle, trump uses the term fire liberally
