Why would anyone associate Trump with being against human rights? Oh, i forgot from the Declaration of Independence: Life, liberty and the pursuit of abortions.douche wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 7:28 pmInteresting article regarding why young men voted for Trump. From the article: "Many young men say they voted for the former president not because they are anti-choice or against human rights or are even that pro-masculinity, but because they’re tired of feeling bad for being a man."

I found this interesting too. Just a few of the quotes:douche wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 7:28 pmInteresting article regarding why young men voted for Trump. "we take the blame for a lot of things" • "men in general are assumed to be inherently bad people because of their politics or their gender." • “The people I’ve spoken to who voted for Harris are constantly saying that we’re racist, that we’re misogynistic, that, you know, we’re transphobic." • "they’re tired of feeling bad for being a man"
I read a fair amount of stuff from the left and from democrats, and yet I do NOT feel bad for being a man (or being white, being straight, being an American, or whatever). Where does this come from? What am I missing?
I have a friend who does training at UW that I guess falls into the category of DEI. She does things like "white privilege" and "what fragility." She's told me a lot about this training. I don't particularly agree with much of it, but it doesn't make me feel bad for anything.
Ironically, we (white people) have been telling black people to put on their adult pants, take responsibility, and stop with the "victim mentality." Maybe we should say the same thing to these young white dudes. Ironically, if the politics were different, I think some people would ridicule them for being snowflakes who want safe spaces.

Why don't you put on a MAGA hat/t-shirt and try walking around in some public area that is populated even to a moderate degree by people that vote Democrat Gil, then maybe you'll get it. Try coming out of your liberal cocoon of feeling morally superior to white conservatives for a day.I read a fair amount of stuff from the left and from democrats, and yet I do NOT feel bad for being a man (or being white, being straight, being an American, or whatever). Re: 2024 Election.
Who's been saying that? Most black people in this country have been told by their black "leaders" and white liberals since they were born that everything bad and wrong in their lives is due to the racism of white people. On the other hand, when a white person struggles with poverty/drug addiction/etc the general message to them is that they are losers and trash and everything bad in their lives is their own fault. There is just no equivalence there in trying to equate what some conservative figures say about black people and what leftist controlled institutions and corporations inflict in the way of psychological attacks on their white employees and the public at large.Ironically, we (white people) have been telling black people to put on their adult pants, take responsibility, and stop with the "victim mentality." I'm not black so how would I know? But I happen to think that "Blame the racist system" is bullshit. I think that makes me an old fashioned conservative, in the mold of Daniel Patrick Moynihan or James Q. Wilson.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 6:05 pmWho's been saying that? I think that's a separate issue. I don't wear anything political and stay safe and anonymous in a crowd as an ordinary looking 6 foot tall middle aged white male. I like it that way.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 5:51 pmWhy don't you put on a MAGA hat/t-shirt and try walking around in some public area that is populated even to a moderate degree by people that vote Democrat Gil, then maybe you'll get it. (And by the way, 2 of my regular hiking buddies are strong Trump supporters, and ... not that that is proof ... I don't think I'm in a liberal cocoon.)

You want to see how your party treats people, play the part.
Of course you don't have any idea. You probably look like a lib.
Re: 2024 Election.
Actually, the article I was referring to (Douche posted it: https://www.glamour.com/story/why-did-y ... nald-trump) was talking about some young men feeling like they are getting blamed for being men, per se. It wasn't about being attacked for displaying your partisan colors.bpj wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:26 pmI think that's his point isn't it?gil wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 8:04 pmI think that's a separate issue. I look like a lib? Funny stuff. What is "the look'" off a lib? Short hair, clean shaven?

That's why you're getting responded to. Not the article.I read a fair amount of stuff from the left and from democrats, and yet I do NOT feel bad for being a man (or being white, being straight, being an American, or whatever). Where does this come from? What am I missing?
Libs? They usually have shiny red lips like they just got done sucking dick.
Weak. Ugly. Losers.
Like Scott Weiner. Like John Podesta. Like Bill Gates. Like Pete Bootygagger. Like Tim Walz. Like Joe Biden. Like Gavin Newsom. Like pretty much all of them. Dainty little fairies. Dance and theater major types.
Re: 2024 Election.
Are you getting the point I'm trying to make? On one hand, people accuse me of drinking the leftist crap from CNN, etc. But I'm saying that I haven't found anything that makes me feel bad about anything I am (male, white, straight, etc.) So where is it coming from that people are made bad to feel about themselves, if it's not from a diet of left wing media?bpj wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 7:18 pmWell this is what you actually said:gil wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 8:48 pmActually, the article I was referring to (Douche posted it: https://www.glamour.com/story/why-did-y ... nald-trump) was talking about some young men feeling like they are getting blamed for being men, per se. Another well-reasoned, logical point. Can you have a discussion without resorting to insults?
