He's currently 2nd in the NFL in yards per game at 271.

At his TD pace, he'd be at 20 TD's if he had played the full 12-game slate which would put him at a tie for 6th in the NFL. His TD/INT ratio over 12 games would be 20/6.

He's being sacked at pretty much the same rate as Geno... would be at 36 sacks over 12 games. So no, he's not really getting better protection.

He's 5th in the NFL in rating.

Could maybe be had somewhat cheaply on like a 2-year deal.

IMO, he's way better than Geno. More experienced winner too -
Why wouldn't he just stay with the Steelers. NFW JS would bring him back.
The Hawks are in a weird place. The rest of the roster is really coming into its contention window but heading into '25 they're QB-less.

I don't think Russ was considered a long-term solution for the Steelers... perhaps he hits the open market where the QB needy Hawks make sense for a swan song.

Would you rather give Russ or Geno a 2-year deal?

Those seem like the options heading into next year... and I'm much more in on Russ.

Neither, but if I have to choose I say the one that eats up the least amount of salary cap.

Next year's f/a's are Sam Darnold, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Geno Smith.

Not sure we wanna roll w. a rookie... especially from this draft class. It's basically Sanders + Ward in the top 10 and then a whole buncha bullshit.

I am not sure you could view it without the bias from his power play vs the management. I wish Russ the best but I think his time in the PNW is in the rear-view.

Well, I'm not expecting them to pick up the money.

But hey, we seem to be on the mid train as a franchise so why not.

I'd rather take the $13.5M dead cap hit than the $38.5 million cap hit.

In a vacuum, I guess. I am not sure that Russ is better....but if I knew how they were going to spend the $25 million extra in cap room? I might be obliged. Maybe one day when I am bored I'll do more research on Free Agents, but I'm not sure we are going to sign one big name. We seem to be an organization that, regardless of who is the GM, throws shit at the wall in Free Agency. The only time I remember spending big was on bullshit O Lineman, and not even top notch ones. Remember Jokeyl, or however you spelled his name? Every year we type endlessly about the FAs we covet in here, and we never sign any of them.

To answer the question, no, I would not take him back.

If we all remember back, the last 2 years Wilson played for our Seahawks, he was a self-centered douchbag. He believed that the entire team and all the wins were because of him. He believed that if PC gave him the ability to call ALL the plays on the field, we would win every game.

No!
No!
No!
Fuck NO!

I think RW will be with the Steelers for a couple more years if he keeps up what he's doing now.
They (Tomlin) like him. Russ has to be leery of going anywhere else after the Denver debacle.
I think Russ would make a compromise deal to stay where he's liked, if needed.
Russ is back in the conversation of making it to the HOF and he would thank the Steelers org for that.

The fucking Steelers could win the god damn SB this year.

Russell's struggles in Denver are overblown. Last year he had 3000 yards, 26 TDS, 8 INTs and a 98 rating. He completed 66.4% of his passes which was the 3rd highest of his career. If you look at his 2023 stats compared to the year the hawks won the Superbowl they are extremely similar. I think the reason he was dumped was more of a chemistry problem with him, the coaching staff and the team around him.
Kind of the same thing, just not a fit. I don't think he fit the system. That said, he was also pretty damn bad last year. I watched several Bronco games last year, and he just didn't have it.

3000 yards is below average at best for today's game. That was over 100 yards less than Herbert, and Herbert played in two fewer games. That was 600 yards fewer than Geno, in the same number of games. He was 20th in yards per game. As a rookie, after a dreadful start, Nix is 18th in yards per game in the same offense. Nix needs to throw for just about 100 yards per game in the next two to end up with similar passing yards in 15 games to Russ....sorry, Russ was well below average last year. You want to point to TDs? Russ always did that. Russ was the king of the short TD pass while here.

Denver was not a good team last year. In week six they lost a close one to the Chiefs to fall to 1 and 5. Russ threw for 95 yards. A few weeks later they actually beat the Chiefs. It must have been because Russ threw for an astonishing 114 yards. The Broncos started winning as soon as Payton made him wear a wrist band and basically neutered him in public. They played 1975 football.

Again, watch Monday's game and tell me Russ shouldn't have excelled in that offense! It took Nix some time, but the Broncos are on a three game win streak and he has thrown for 307, 273 and 294 in those three games. Again, a Rookie. Russ had two games were he threw for more than that, and they were week two and week three, both losses. The week three loss was when the Dolphins scored 70 on them and the Broncos were in garbage time for 3 quarters! LOL
But they benched Russ the last couple of games so figure on another at least 500 more passing yards.
