Based on Jerry's words, name the M's 1B, 2B, 3B next year.

Moore's value is in his versatility
I'm not really sure that's true.

I think his value would be higher getting all of his appearances at 2B than roving around having to play LF, 1B, and 3B.

He played 33 games between LF and 1B last season. That's not a positive thing imo. Raley is obviously a better option at both, right?

Any time Moore's at one of those positions, is a disadvantage to the team, not a feature of his value.

It's negligence by the Mariners to field a capable team. Moore has had to pick up the pieces. They need to keep their bench players on the bench where they belong.

Except there were games that Raley was out due to injury(not DL-worthy but enough that you miss a game or 2) that is when Moore is valuable. Also, games played is a misnomer...It is the bottom of the eighth with a tough lefty on the mound, Raley gets pinch hit for, as he should, and as they go out for the 9th Moore is at 1b....he gets a game played for that half an inning. He has just performed his bench player job. That is where his value lies.

By that point he's doing the job of both bench guys.

Nah, I don't think I'll ever be on board that any single players value comes from versatility unless they're the best option available at that spot.

Beyond that it's poor coaching and roster construction imo.

Joc Pederson to the Rangers. The M's might as well become sellers at this point.

The Dodgers value utility. They gave Edman a five year 74 mil extension. Edman put up .9 WAR last season but they consider him valuable beyond that. That's how I feel about Moore.
Edman is the rare player who can provide above-average fielding at shortstop, center field and second base, as he played at the first two positions during the Dodgers' World Series run. The Dodgers prioritize positional flexibility, and Edman gives them that at three premium defensive spots.

I2 straight seasons in the playoffs, it's not just having a lot of money, it's spending it properly

They just spent more on Tommy Edman than the Mariners have on any bats since Cano didn't they?

They throw their money around and it works out because Edman's the low man on the totem pole.
