Yeah, he could be Bliss similar which means more depth essentially. I think Kim's utility is attractive to them. They would have multiple guys that could cover 3rd, 2nd and SS. I could see them getting a first baseman and calling it goodD-train wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 7:57 pmHe is unproven as Bliss and Rivas and a lot more expensive. Probably better than Rivas but basically a LH Bliss minus the power. His almost namesake Ha Seong Kim put up a .622 OPS his rookie season. That would be my expectation.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 6:40 amI'm gonna be relieved if he signs, it would be a start. Then on to third and first. Heck the deadline is Friday

There are questions about how his offense will translate, but he did hit .326 in the KBO in 2024. Given that the Mariners have struggled at second base since 2019, Kim represents a young player with upside and athleticism. His ability to make contact should help the Mariners strike out less,

If Dipoto is not allowed to meet with Sasaki be an embarrassing blow to the organization
Jim Bowden
@JimBowdenGM
Teams that are still in on Roki Sasaski: Dodgers Padres Cubs Yankees Mets Rangers maybe Giants not the White Sox others could be added to list

He is used to it and Stanton obviously doesn't GAF.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 1:34 amIf Dipoto is not allowed to meet with Sasaki be an embarrassing blow to the organization

Said these teams earlier and got attacked. Mariners are not getting Sasaki. Even he can see this offense is trashDonn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 1:34 amIf Dipoto is not allowed to meet with Sasaki be an embarrassing blow to the organization

Wrong thread, it's one thing to fail at convincing Sasaki, to not even be invited to talk to him... that be embarrassing

It is embarrassing for a normal Human with at least some level of pride. I doubt it phases them.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 1:39 amWrong thread, it's one thing to fail at convincing Sasaki, to not even be invited to talk to him... that be embarrassing

They can grumble to each other all they want about how unfair it is but that would look bad. I understood they were going to go about this one quietly as opposed to the Ohtani deal. It might not ever be clear if they talked to him or not, we shall see

It would be embarrasing for a big market or successful team, but we are neither. Only team to never appear in a WS. Only a handful of playoff appearances in 45 years. Mid to small market payroll. A cheap owner. An idiot GM. The list goes on. Why would Sasaki want to play here when teams who actually care about winning are chasing after him?
