The worst thing about the 54% model that nobody ever mentions
The worst thing about the 54% model that nobody ever mentions
The 54% sustainability model doesn't really consider the fact that thousands of hard core life long fans do literally DIE every year without ever seeing their team in the WS. It has happened to three of my friends. Halfmoon, Mikeyb and a guy I went to ST with in 2005 to see Felix in person for the first time. It is sad and pathetic.

What other business in the world's motto is "Strive for slightly above average?" None of us are getting any younger, and sadly many of us will be going to our graves without seeing the M's in a World Series. The infuriating part is, many of us will go to our graves without the M's TRYING to go to a World Series...

Maybe a class action lawsuit against the ownership group for trying not to win and bilking the public out of millions of dollars.bhofferb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 4:38 pmWhat other business in the world's motto is "Strive for slightly above average?" In the world of education, 54% is not above average. It is 4% above failing.bhofferb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 4:38 pmWhat other business in the world's motto is "Strive for slightly above average?" A “B” is average. And with grade inflation these days, it’s more like an A-.

Re: The worst thing about the 54% model that nobody ever mentions
The only problem with 54% as a sustainability goal is that he said it out loud.
Re: The worst thing about the 54% model that nobody ever mentions
Are those percentages for the American League only?
In 2023 the Miami Marlins and the NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks advanced to the postseason with 84 wins each in the regular season:

If he didn't say it out loud everyone would still know by the actions of the past few off seasons.

Sitting here in ER with elevated heart rate. I think I know why. Speaking of”why”… Why does JD still have a job and why isn’t Stanton on the phone to Bezos offering a buy in? Why isn’t there a Blimp over Stanton’s home with a “Sell or spend. Get in it to win” bannerD-train wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 3:28 pmThe 54% sustainability model doesn't really consider the fact that thousands of hard core life long fans do literally DIE every year without ever seeing their team in the WS. Bezos lives in Florida now and has never been connected with having an interest in baseball. I think I read somewhere that he was interested in buying a football team though.AZOldDawg wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 9:25 pmSitting here in ER with elevated heart rate. I think I know why.
