You would rather have a guy that had a .641 OPS last season than a .830 OPS?rockycola wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:30 pmIglesias still has good bat to ball skills but is not remotely an answer to a power bat at a power corner. 51 home runs in 12 seasons? Would rather have had Rojas back. Plus, since 2013, only 130 innings played at 3rd base. Stopgap for 2nd base? Maybe, might be interesting choice as a cost conscience piece. I liked him in 2015-18 as the Tiger's primary SS.

Is a FA that likely could be had on a 1 year $5-$7M deal. He has never put up less than 1.0 fWAR since 2013. Would be a good stop gap imo.

No, really don't want Rojas back either. Just don't see Iglesias as being a 3B answer. But if we don't get a banger, and obviously Dipoto's going to roll with what we got so let's see what we have with Bliss, Williamson, etc. Failure IS an option and 54% is planning for failure in the hearts of us fans. The ownership does not have deep pockets, won't and can't overspend and we're stuck with that. So Servais kicked to the curb, Dan the Man is at the helm and Edgar is the savior (looking for small glimmers of hope here). There's only so many rocks that can be turned over. Maybe a Castilllo trade comes to fruition. Maybe we win the trade, maybe it's a miserable failure. The waiting, the rock turning, the rosterbation is turning me into casual indifference.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 10:18 pmYou would rather have a guy that had a .641 OPS last season than a .830 OPS?rockycola wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:30 pmIglesias still has good bat to ball skills but is not remotely an answer to a power bat at a power corner. 51 home runs in 12 seasons? Maybe in 2040, when I'm 88, the M's will be something exciting and good. Do you really want to see an 88 yo all giddy and excited?

In 2009, at 35 years old, Ichiro had 225 hits, an .851 OPS and, oh, the M's finished 85-77 (52.4%).D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 10:18 pmYou would rather have a guy that had a .641 OPS last season than a .830 OPS?rockycola wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:30 pmIglesias still has good bat to ball skills but is not remotely an answer to a power bat at a power corner. 51 home runs in 12 seasons? Felix was 19-5.
Don Wakamatsu was the manager.
Jack Zduriencik was the GM
We had a 31 HR banger at 1B - Russell Branyon.

There are no Bangers available unless you count Bregman and isn't an option obviously.rockycola wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 12:02 amNo, really don't want Rojas back either. Heck, Carlton won 27 games for the 72 Phillies that went 59-97. I don't know if you guys caught it, but the Dodgers traded Diego Cartaya to the Twins. It's disappointing the Mariners didn't get him. He's supposed to be a strong defensive catcher and he has options, so he would have been an ideal player to have stowed away in AAA. The Twins gave up a nothing arm for him.

I see where the Braves and Kelenic agree on a 2,3 mil one yr deal to avoid arbitration. Kelenic was probably worried about making less thru arbitration.
