I keep wondering why we'd bother taking Canada or Greenland...

As far as Canada goes, Trump says it pretty clearly in this video. We pretty much already pay for their country to exist, we might as well stop paying and just let their territories benefit the US for once.

The Chinese and the Russians are looking at the "Northwest Passage" to get their goods to Europe faster. Anyone who thinks those ships are strictly commercial hasn't been paying attention for the past 100 years. We already guarantee Greenland's security and should be able to purchase it for less than $50 Billion.

As for Canada, I know most of us think they are a bunch of liberal loonies, but most of the provinces absolutely hate Ontario. BC is a toss up, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are relatively conservative. All in all, I'd think the Dems would be jumping up and down to annex Canada. Three conservative States, a couple of toss-ups, and perhaps four liberal states. It's an interesting concept but I doubt either one of these ideas has legs.

He won't be taking over either - this is clearly rhetoric for negotiations - letting the world know our opening position. He is correct - but there will be no territory acquisitions. For the love of God would people please see this stuff for what it is. He wants much more favorable trade deals with Canada, he wants China etal to know we ain't fucking around when it comes to Greenland - a territory I do not know or understand the value of - is it strategic or are there exploitable resources (ala Ukraine - the real reason we are there) - is it military - I do not claim to know. Trump is a business man - that's how he thinks - what is the value of these properties? Regardless, there is zero chance we annex Canada, nor is that in ANY way his goal. C'mon people. Be smarter than that.

I am always surprised at the knee jerk reactions - people somehow deducing he is positing a one-step process - when he is thinking ten steps down the road. This is one of those steps. How do people not see that? The best part is watching the same simpletons get triggered

The reality is Trump is likely tossing an opening salvo at Canada's next PM - letting them know who is boss - and he won't put up with any of that Trudeau level bullshit. He already basically ran Trudeau out of town - as we all now he is resigning in utter disgrace. Under his 'watch' canada's economy has crashed 40% and the conservatives have a 20% lead now. Time to kick back and watch CNN and their slack-jawed troglodyte viewers act like Trump is minutes away from lining up tanks for the invasion in 3..2..1...

He doesn't sound like he's posturing about Canada either. From what I saw Trudeau resigned within days of meeting with Trump.

Guess we'll see what happens, I don't think Trump's messing around this term.

For those that are color blind and have never looked at a globe in their lives, Alaska is the one that says Alaska, Canada is the one that says Canada, Russia is the one that says the Federation of Russia. Greenland is the large blob bottom right. lol
