Think about this

If Dipito is known as “Trader Jerry” and has the best farm team in baseball plus a pretty fair country pitcher to dangle and can’t improve our hitting there seems to be something “fishy” going on. Fishy smells like Stanton to me

I think he was plenty willing to trade guys that weren’t his guys. He’s much more reluctant with the guys he brought in

I don't think Stanton is standing in the way of trades. He has claimed he isn't involved in player transactions,

But possibly Mr. Stanton has full control over what he will allow a new player to be paid. So he is short-circuiting Mr. Dipoto's ability to make a trade or sign a free agent. I seem to recall Stanton saying to Dipoto if we could get Juan Soto for $1 million a year to go ahead and sign the guy.

So Stanton Won't let Jerry trade Castillo who is making well over $20M for Casas who is making minimum wage?

There's money involved. It scares Stanton.

He explained it last season terms of the cost cutting trades. He wasn't involved in any of that. They set a budget, dipoto can do whatever he wants as long as he stays in the budget.

But he didn't cut costs he just replaced Geno with Polanco and Marco and White with Garver.

Depoto got rid of the Ray and white contracts that cut costs, and he added to his budget.

Payroll was slightly higher in 2024 than 2023. That isn't cutting payroll. He made a bunch of moves and they got worse.
