Wow. I'm not a Mahar fan, but he absolutely nailed this. If these fires happened before the election, I wonder if Cal would've gone red (insert fire is red joke)? Mahar could not have nailed this any better on all levels - it's what some of us have been saying for a long time. Thanks for sharing!D-train wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 3:04 pmawesome monologue by Bill.

Wildfires in CA

California... where you spend money and get nothing.
The good news is our fire chief is a lesbian
Bill Maher is the modern day version of George Carlin. The voice of reason. What a sad world.

Re: Wildfires in CA
Full disclosure: I stole this from the comments section on YouTube...
"Bill didn't mention the salaries of the govt. employees who were supposed to tend to this :
LA Water Chief : $750,000
Fire Chief : $400,000
Asst. Fire Chief who doesn't want to rescue men : $325,000"
He didn't mention the salaries specifically, but he did allude to it when he said that California is where you spend money and get nothing.

Don't leave out that if a 186 pound female can't carry you out of a fire, it's your fault!

He's anti-leftist but that alone doesn't make him a voice of reason because he compromises intellectually (in order to appease his audience) by attacking rational views held by conservative thinkers. Just a few years ago he joined his audience in laughing at guest Dennis Prager for warning them about the coming transgender movement and it's position that men can get pregnant, then over the ensuing years acknowledged (and derided) those things.
Re: Wildfires in CA
Honestly, comparing Mahar to Carlin is an insult to Carlin on all levels. Let's be clear - Mahar got ONE monologue right - and 98% of that was written by a staff of writers - NOT him. Mahar is a carnival barker - a piece of driftwood who will flip flip anytime he feels the wind blowing against his real beliefs. He's a narcissist. He's spent years screaming and raging about anyone NOT on the left - and as the tides of public opinion have turned - he fell in line. Mahar is the epitome of disingenuous. He's suddenly mad at the party that has destroyed his state - while simultaneously letting the same party off the hook that has been destroying the country for years - all because it was 'acceptable' to shit on Trump, Republicans and conservatives. OH, but now, the party that has behaved this way for years in now fair game - so Maher jumps right on the bandwagon. Fucking predictable clown. Carlin was counterculture - he understood what was coming - Mahar hasn't been ahead of the curve on anything - ever.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 7:06 pmHe's anti-leftist but that alone doesn't make him a voice of reason because he compromises intellectually (in order to appease his audience) by attacking rational views held by conservative thinkers. You can't have it both ways, Mahar. Your writers got this right - not you.
He's also painfully smug and arrogant while lacking real intelligence and knowledge - a grotesque combination. Carlin was the opposite - and he was genuine in his beliefs and observations and didn't have a room of writers doing all the heavy lifting to make him look good. Where is the barf emoji?
Re: Wildfires in CA
Glib is a funny word. Mahar was correct this time - for sure - but I liken him more to how Sibilius described him. There was a time when Mahar had teeth but he's soft fat and happy now. Those folks never challenge the status quo.
Here is one of the greatest clips on the internet - Adam Corolla completely taking down Newsom - this is a dozen years ago - watch Newsom spout stats ad nauseum - corolla challenges all of them - and newsom does nothing but talk in empty circles and spew word salad - he can't back up anything he says when challenged. It's all scripted nonsense talking points. The ultimate dem politician using a thousand words to say nothing - we see where Kamala learned it. It's so so so good.

The transgender movement. Nothing terrifies 60 year old men more than people they almost never encounter and will have the opportunity to misgender maybe once or twice in their lives... and heaven forbid be corrected.
But, but... THEY ARE PLAYING IN WOMEN'S SPORTS!!! Yeah, like 40 of the them country wide... again, the biggest concern among 60 year old men is transgender females competing in about .0001% of women's athletics across the country.
AND THE DRAG SHOW READINGS!!! AHHHH!!!
You go get em fellas! COMMON SENSE WILL PREVAIL!
