But peters traded him, it was the Seahawks that bit. He also managed to land a dynamic oc, something the Seahawks couldn't manage

They're just getting started, wonder how long they can hang on to kingsbury
. The league is officially on notice. Washington's rebuild is just getting started.

They have almost $100 million in available salary-cap space this offseason and seven draft picks at their disposal. The Commanders are a hot team again, which makes them an attractive destination in a big market.

I don't think there will ever be a sure-fire formula for selecting a QB. Brady was a 6th rounder. And there are so many 1st round busts. Anyone can measure their height, weight, hand size, etc. but it's the intangibles that can't be measured empirically.

I mentioned this on another thread, but out of 32 starters in the NFL, half of those aren't much good. Half of the remaining 16 are serviceable. Of the 8 left, 4 are good, 4 might be elite. Factor in questionable ownership, management and coaching and it's a total crapshoot. Are the supporting pieces in place? Is the coaching up to speed? Is ownership dedicated to winning, and do they support the management and coaches?

Tough questions.

I am not in the same boat. When I think of the top QBs in the league, I am pretty sure most would say Mahomes #1.

But, give me a top 5: I could make a case for:
Lamar
Allen
Daniels
STroud
Hurts
Love
Stafford
Herbert
Burrow
Tua
And just a few years ago, I would have added Big Ben, Rodgers, WIlson, Brady, Breeze, and Manning to that list.

Kind of crazy, but literally very hard to find a starting QB not in the first round. So, not drafting one is very hard to succeed. And in the playoffs right now even harder (3 top 11 picks and a second rounder in the final 4). In the divisional round All top 11 picks and a 2 rounder. 3 of them top 3 picks.

So, counting the starting QBs in the league (did add both Fields and Russ, and Daniel Jones) here is the breakdown of starting NFL QB's.

23 1st round to 15 picks
4 top 16-32 picks
4 2nd rounders
2 3rd roundes
2 4th rounders
1 7th rounder

Not really much choice for the Hawks. Retread of a 2nd rounder like Geno or Carr, or a top 3 pick in Darnold. Or roll the dice with Riley Leonard or Jalen Milroe types.

But, but, but.....Tom Brady. There aren't many Brady's anymore. Heck, there aren't very many Wilson's anymore. 5 starters taken after the second round!?

Jeremiah said on Brock and Salk this morning that his comp in Jalen Hurts! Granted, I had just pulled into the gym parking lot and didn't want to wait for him to finish, but Hurts! Wow.

I guess I haven't paid that much attention to the kid, but my son has been telling me for weeks that is who we should target. I don't think even he thought at 18 though. My God, QBs get a buzz and all of a sudden they are first rounders. Crazy shit.

Check his stats. The improvement each year is especially impressive.
