GLAD I could join y'all

There are 11 million deaf people in the USA - 3.6% of the population. It might be an idea to let them join in a little bit. The idea of the signer is to not only transcribe the words but to try to reflect the style and energy of the performer. I felt similar to you and didn't know that until I did a British Sign Language course last year and I met some people who get excluded from daily life because nobody teaches it in schools. It was quite an awkward and tough thing to experience but I am grateful to have met them.

Unless there was a deaf person on the field close enough to see her, her interpretation was for nobody. And even then, every deaf person I've ever met would have just watched the singer and read lips.
(tech note, every time I wrote deaf my phone corrected to dead... Not cool, phone!)
