Re: Doge
The gripe I hear is that he is doing it for his own personal gain, protecting his own wealth. What a joke.
Sorry, when someone is upset that you are looking for wrong doing, you have to ask yourself what don't they want you to find? Why is Pelosi worth a quarter billion? Give me rich guys that didn't make their money of being career politicians any day of the week.
Re: Doge
Who wouldn't be against government waste? I agree.
I am worried that simply cutting spending across the board (the way Hegseth said he will with the DoD) will not only cut waste; it will also reduce our military/defense capabilities. Who has the expertise to identify the true waste (i.e., cutting spending that does not harm capabilities)? Unfortunately, I think it requires an intimate knowledge of a particular organization. Yeah, it's easy to get rid of DEI programs, and I will not argue against that. But it is hardly a significant savings compared to the scale of the federal budget and the deficit.

https://nypost.com/2025/02/19/us-news/d ... dit-cards/For decades, the federal government has been plagued with scandals involving the use of taxpayer-funded credit cards.
Over the years, government watchdogs have found everything from adult entertainment to Lego toys to lavish, multi-course meals being charged to taxpayers.
A recent audit of the Department of Defense’s travel charge program found that 12% of credit card purchases on government-issued cards may have violated the Pentagon’s spending policies in 2023.
The DOD inspector general report, released last month, found $500,000 in transactions made at casinos, mobile app stores, bars, nightclubs and major sporting events, including the Super Bowl.
Another 3.9 million transactions, totaling $1.2 billion, were not even reviewed by supervisors, the IG found.
A bunch of people that felt like $1.2 billion in spending shouldn't even be reviewed it was so insignificant? Is the reason we are where we are. Use the money we spend to make sure illegal immigrants are comfortable, and crazy ass research in foreign countries on the American people, and see how things change. Again, why are Dem's worried someone is looking into spending if they aren't doing anything wrong? Why did they demand Trump show his taxes and then Pelosi refuses to?

Never in a million years did I envision a day where I'd hear a liberal is worried about reducing our military capabilities. Only in bizzaro world, my friends.gil wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:16 pmWho wouldn't be against government waste? I agree.

Re: Doge
I think you are stereotyping liberals. I believe in a strong military, strong borders, capitalism, personal freedoms, strong families, strong communities, personal responsibility, and effective but limited government that makes these things possible. If that makes me a liberal, I'll wear it. If it makes me a Reagan Republican, ditto.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 6:38 pmNever in a million years did I envision a day where I'd hear a liberal is worried about reducing our military capabilities. Re: Doge
Yes let's review it. Just make sure you have the personnel to do it. It seems like a lot of "enforcement people" (e.g., IRS agents, Inspectors General) are getting fired.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:45 pmgil wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:16 pmWho wouldn't be against government waste? I agree.

I assume none of that $500,000 was acceptable, right? Stop that from happening again and we've saved half a mil. Just do that 20 million more times and we have met our $1 Trillion goal. Piece of cake.

Re: Doge
You miss the part about $1.2 BILLION that wasn't even approved? Or did that just not fit your narrative?
Re: Doge
The article (and you) said it wasn't reviewed. Not sure that's the same thing, but sure, if there is 1.2B (or even 1% of that, or even $1) for casinos and strip clubs, I'm against it and I support fixing things so it doesn't happen in the future.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 7:19 pmYou miss the part about $1.2 BILLION that wasn't even approved? So maybe now you libs can shut up and let them do their work to trim budgets before deploying any further faux outrage over cutting waste just because it's "Republicans" accomplishing it.
