Grading the Draft

Yeah. I don't blame Shadeur as much as I blame Deon. No coach or GM is gonna wanna get called out on ESPN by Deon after every game. These guys thinking they are so superior - their brand is above all else - shades of The Great Cringe who got run out of town. Jesus, rad the room, no sane GM is taking that kind of risk of a first round salary or putting his coach in the cross hairs of always-looking-for-a-microphone Deon. No way.

We are just sitting here waiting to leave on May 6th. Have finished everything. Filled up a Pods storage container with a mountain of stuff. Five trips to Goodwill, a moving sale and filled up the trailer with everything we need. 9 more days of sitting around just waiting. Can't wait to get out of this house.

The truth is, a quarterback’s personality matters little if he knows how to lead and perform under duress; and frankly, none of what we’ve heard about Sanders, outside of his Hall of Fame father, is that unique. Just last year, Caleb Williams was meticulously criticized for lots of things—his maturity and how he handled losing and even his personal style, and some of those conversations veered way too close to how a quarterback should project traditional masculinity. Still, Williams went first overall because nothing actually matters except being good at playing quarterback. That could’ve been the case for Sanders, had he shown enough on tape at Colorado

I like Zabel and Emmanwori, but they could have done more to address WR and D line by trading back for an extra 3rd round pick. Could have had a pick in the 28-34 range along with 50, 52, 82, 92, and another earlier 3rd rounder. Too many needs left unaddressed.

Dude - just stop. This is a solid class. You don't draft nine starters in one draft. It doesn't matter what they do, you are going to hand wring and lament. THIS IS THE TEAM, this is the draft. Get on board and look at the potential. Stop 'what ifing" all the time. This team won ten games last year and just added at least three starters and a killer QB option and the next Kam. The glass is half full, dude. This team is well positioned. Most think it is one of THE top classes - and you're complaining. Think about that.

I think in the long view this could be a good draft if they really are adding two good starters, a contributor at TE and potential starter or decent backup QB. But they are probably going to take a step back this year because the WR group is weak and they have no depth at ILB and CB, and still don't have a true nose tackle which was a staple of Macdonald's D in Baltimore. If they can shore up those things next year they'll be in decent shape. As it stands, this is a 7 or 8 win team.

I would not be so quick to assume the receiver group is downgraded all that much. Kupp is a great possession receiver - and he knows the division well. They have question marks there - but dumping inconsistent (and too expensive) DK and washed Lockett HAD TO BE done. I think the receiver room is a wash - but the oline will be better - they are beefing up the run game considerably. Agreed on NT and the thin LB room - but that safety they snagged can basically play LB, so it isn't any worse. Aren't you stoked to see what Milroe can do? C'mon, we haven't had that kind of QB since early Cringe.

Yeah his interviews hurt him but this guy really doesn't think he's that good

Sanders’s Colorado film made it difficult to picture him as an early pick. When I went through his throws midway through last season, I saw a quarterback who met the baseline threshold for accuracy and anticipation, enough to potentially be the top quarterback in this weak quarterback draft class. But by the end of the season, if you weren’t looking at him through Prime’s gold-tinted lenses, Sanders was pretty clearly a hypertrained quarterback—the kind who can fool you into thinking he is a high-floor prospect because he understands how to operate a pro-level passing game, but lacks the physical tools to actually pull it off in the NFL.

Tory Horton is a damn good pick up. Steve Smith's agrees. I had a grade near Jayden Higgins on him. If we had missed on getting him, Horton was my back up. The kid catches EVERYTHING!!

I retired the first of April. We were going to do almost a year long trip around the country in our new trailer but I just talked to a guy and his wife renting his house in East Wenatchee. We will definitely be on the road until Late June going from Moorpark and hour north of LA up the CA and OR coast into WA.
