Does BWags want to get JS fired?

Post by D-train » Thu May 23, 2019 2:59 am

He wants at least the same ridiculous deal that Mosley got from the Jets GM who was fired for it. Why would he expect to get a deal that was so much higher than the rest of the market that it got the GM fired? Maybe just a bargaining position but still............

Why wouldn't he expect to be highest paid MLB? There isn't another one that can match his resume. Kuechly but Wagner doesn't have the injury history. I don't get the Wagner should take less than Mosley. If the Hawks traded Wagner for Mosley every Hawk fan would outraged. Jets GM got fired for Leveon Bell not Mosley

Do you think Mosely is worth what he got?

If Mosely was worth what that nutty GM gave him, I would agree Wags is worth more but I can't ever remember a guy getting almost 50% more than the current highest paid player at his position. That is lunacy.

Getting 5 mil more than Kuechly is lunacy? He overpaid to get him to come to the Jets. Regardless the market has been set. I mean you're willing to let Wagner walk? If you tag him its gonna be the same amount.

My guess his new contract comes in at about $15MM AAV with a higher than typical amount guaranteed.

So more than 51 mil guaranteed? So the annual salary is causing the freakout?

fyi Mosely is only 26. They aren't going to give Wagner a five year deal. I am thinking 3 x 15 with $35-40M guaranteed. Which is ~80-90% guaranteed. Mosely's is only 60% guaranteed $51/$85

The problem as I see it is, deserved or not, the Jets reset the MLB market. If we don't pay Wags, someone will.

You're right about the % but you're asking Wagner to take less annually and less guaranteed money.. Remember it's about respect to these guys. The route you're going would be more like 4 yr/ 60 mil with Wagner getting a fully guaranteed contract like Cousins.. Or a 4yr/72 mil with the guaranteed over the 51 like a 55 and they can prorate the s*** out of the signing bonus
