The ROCK vs. Detroit STEEL - 07/11/2025

Post by seattlefan-daBronx » Fri Jul 11, 2025 3:35 pm

Today is 7/11 so I wish the Mariners as much success against the Tigers as the Indians who own all the 7-11 convenience stores.

I have no faith in this team.
I have no pride.
I have no dignity.
I am a Seattle Mariners fan.

Here are the "Expected" lineups. Some of us still work so when the "Real" ones come out please post on my behalf.

This is hilarious. He illegitimately makes the team and then snubs it. LOL

I imagine the last thing Julio wants is to make a pinch hit appearance and hear "and now, somehow, Julio Rodriguez will bat in the All Star Game. Julio enters the All Star game with a batting average of .244, 11 HRs, 44 RBIs and 90 strikeouts". Now, picture Bob Eucker leaning over to his color guy, covering the mic and saying "who the Hell did this guy sleep with to get here?"

if he feels he doesn't belong there wouldn't that be the correct thing to do?

As he should. Personally, I think that there should be three criteria on making the All-Star team if you're not a rookie: 1) How you're doing this season; 2) How you did last season; and 3) your general reputation. Julio flunks 1), flunks 2), but squeaks in on 3). 3) would work for a future Hall Of Famer like Cal Ripken in his final year, but not for a young player who's about to put together a second consecutive non-All Star season.

okay, but why is Julios reputation so much higher than Springer's? Sorry, i don't see that as an explanation for beating out Springer

Springer's been in a sharp decline the last two years and downright sucked in 2024. This season though he's hit much better than Julio has. I guess that with players they don't really have the knowledge that others outside the game have and as far as they know Julio is the same player he was in 2022/2023.
