We in the USA, until recently referred to it as "The British Open". The population of 340 million.

Just by shear volume, it should be called The British Open......

Honestly, I like to refer to it as "The Open" because then you need to explain it to the people that are casual golf fan.

Yes it is very simple. I wonder who came up with the word Soccer? Ha you guys did!
