so the Saudis are not fanatics now..interesting, that is sectarianism, sure, lets get involved in that, that has always been a winner. Well for me, if we want to stop being targets it might help to get our asses out of there. Yea, as nutty as it sounds, it might work, and i thought that was what Trump had in mind to begin with

Sure, Trump left the Kurds out to dry. I doubt, though, they are lamenting the death of the leader of Iran's campaign to conquer the Middle East.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:10 amyou left the Kurds outSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:07 amYou mean like the Saudis, the Israelis, the non-Shia Iraqis, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, the anti-gov portion of Syria that Assad didn't kill or drive out?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:56 amWhat on earth did we gain by killing the guy in the first place, everybody in the region hates us even more...

Trump evidently must now go on a world wide apology tour. Begging forgiveness for the horrible country he represents. He should hand Iran $150Billon in cash and guarantee them they get a nuke in a few yrs by signing a treaty that can’t be verified and then constantly complain it was The former presidents fault for everything. He should put down a red line in the sand for Syria to never use chemical weapons and then do nothing when they cross it....cash for klunkers, shovel ready jobs,
Lol
Trump ain’t no Obama....that’s for sure...Thankfully

He has a long way to go to catch up to Obama's drone strike count...
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... os-excerptIn this context, though, “lawful” had a specialized meaning. Except at the highest level of abstraction, the law of the drone campaign had not been enacted by Congress or published in the US Code. No federal agency had issued regulations relating to drone strikes, and no federal court had adjudicated their legality. Obama administration officials insisted that drone strikes were lawful, but the “law” they invoked was their own. It was written by executive branch lawyers behind closed doors, withheld from the public and even from Congress, and shielded from judicial review.

Anyone else a little suspicious about the given explanation for the cause of the Ukrainian airliner that crashed? Iran has already announced they won't give up the black boxes.

There's a lot of suspicion. An airliner going down right after the missile strike, too big of a coincidence. Iran refusing to give up the black boxes, which of course makes it look like they're hiding something.
At the same time, the airliner had just taken off from Tehran International which isn't anywhere close to where the missiles were fired and presumably nowhere close to where the missiles were fired from. Given the amount of time between takeoff and crash (it only got up to about 8,000 feet), that airliners were probably taking off every few minutes, plus the direction the airliner was headed (west from Tehran), it seems preposterous to assume it was shot down. Someone would have had to really, really REALLY fudge up.

A cell phone activated bomb the size of a loaf of bread is all it would take to blow apart a jetliner like it's a paper mache pinata.

Re: Soleimani Killed.....About Damn Time
But that doesn't make any sense, blowing up one of your own airliners and killing a bunch of your own citizens at the same time you're firing missiles at another country in an effort to...make it look like you accidentally shot down one of your own airliners and then deny it? It makes a lot more sense for some dummy to screw up firing a heat-seeker and having it circle back.
I've just read where the Iranians are already calling it a mechanical failure, which is beyond laughable. It happened in darkness so nobody witnessed what happened beyond seeing flames in the night sky, and somebody might want to tell these fools that reading black boxes isn't like looking at Etch-A-Sketches.
Those poor people. That's the worst kind of airliner accident to be in, going down from that altitude and at an angle where you know it's over. Instead of getting killed instantly or having time to reflect on their lives, they probably just had 30 seconds or so to scream in terror.
