Sounds very reasonable, that's development. He might give up more walks but hitters aren't going to be able to sit on hittable pitches if they get ahead in the count. Hit a few of them while you're at itseattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 2:57 amI heard the australian dude talking about Kirby's adjustment this year.
What happens is when he's behind in the count or gets into trouble he is so accurate that his pitches end up in the center/middle of the plate.
So he is purposely trying to hit the corners/edges and ends up giving up more walks vs. hits with the ball over the sweet spot.
Sounds reasonable I guess. Give up the walk instead of the run(s).

The weird thing is that both Kirby and Gilbert have abandoned some pitches this year.
Kirby threw a splitter pretty consistently last year... has reduced drastically. He's thrown one tonight from my count and missed badly.
Conversely, Logan has jumped his splitter % by a wide margin and has greatly reduced the amount of curves thrown.
I wonder what gives considering how successful they both were last year.

This ump wants to go home. He’s giving this pitcher every pitch close to the strike zone. Not 1 of those pitches to Julio was a strike. He has given him 1-2 pitches almost every AB
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo
