I know we feel like we are, but we did win a Super Bowl just 12 years ago.

Most would say Cleveland, although they have one recent title, the Cavaliers overcoming a 3-1 deficit to beat the 73-9 Warriors in 2016. They do have a strong case because of the horrible things that have gone wrong with the Browns and Indians. Cleveland has a VERY strong case and for a city with multiple teams would probably be the right choice.

But I'm going to go with Portland, even though they only have had one team, part of my logic being that Portland fans have to put all their eggs in this one basket filled with so many horrors. Here's my case:

1977: The Blazers win the NBA title. I attended my first Mariners game the night they won it all.

1978: The Blazers were 50-10, on their way to another title, when Bill Walton broke his foot. And just like that, it was all over.

1984: Stupidly passed up Michael Jordan for Sam Bowie. Considering that in the ensuing years they built a good team, this probably cost them several titles. SEVERAL. This is actually the main reason I chose Portland, I don't know if you can come up with another event that in theory (albeit a strong one, after all this IS Michael Jordan) cost a franchise multiple championships.

1990: Lost in the finals to the Pistons, 4-1.

1991: Lost in the conference finals to the Lakers, 4-2.

1992: Lost in the finals to the Bulls (the team that ended up with the guy that they should have picked), 4-2.

1999: Lost in the conference finals to the Spurs, 4-0.

2000: Had game 7 of the conference finals against the Lakers in the bag, up 15 points with 10 minutes left, and they somehow completely and totally blew it. If they'd won they'd almost certainly have whooped the Nets in the finals.

Late 1990s - early 2000s: The Jail Blazers.

2006: Strike gold in drafting Brandon Roy, who then barely makes it through five seasons due to health issues.

2007: Stupidly passed up Kevin Durant for Greg Oden, and EVERYONE thought it was stupid. I don't know if this cost them any titles, but it ensured mediocrity in the years to come.

2008 - 2025: Mostly mediocrity with the exception of the 2019 conference finals in which they lost to the Warriors, 4-0.

If that wasn't enough, we have the youngest and most talented team in the NFL, and follow up a Super Bowl win with the worst possible loss and the Dynasty falls apart.

Then there is the Mariners. 95 is great, so the ownership decides to save money instead of build. All the stars align and we are dominating? So someone flys airplanes into the WTC. We not only blow that series to the NYFD, but we set a North American record for longest playoff draught by a professional team and we are still looking at one playoff appearance in two and a half decades.

Come on....name ONE SINGLE CITY with that much Bullshit spread across three sports teams? The Cougar fans can go on and on, and so can Husky fans. Nothing good is ever sustainable.

I think that the Browns by themselves tilt the misery scale in Cleveland's favor.

The thing is, Seattle has been victimized by two of the most egregious cases of crooked officiating in modern American pro sports history, costing us a likely Super Bowl victory and a trip to the NBA finals. I'm not sure Cleveland has experienced that although i know little of their history. Yep it is us. And the writers voting for Miami to be the National champs in 1992 after we had one of the most dominant undefeated seasons in College football history.
