Kemp became disgruntled over the $ they paid McIlwaine, or whatever his name was.

This is not a playoff worthy team
It's not, and again...I suspect the standing will reflect that very soon. Amazing how quickly the bottom fell out. We make the moves we thought would set us straight, win ten out of eleven games, and then turn into a pumpkin. Only the Mariners. I knew it was too good to be true. It's well past time for me to stop paying attention again. I sure hope I have a more enjoyable fall with the Huskies and Seahawks, but I am starting to believe that it doesn't matter who I root for, they are going to be mediocre to shitty!
I'm going to be even more hated here, but after this season I'm switching loyalties to the Blue Jays since I'm moving to Ontario. At least that franchise cares
Care or not, they've won a grand total of three playoff games since 1993. You'd be just about as well off switching to the Expos.

Feeling cursed might possibly be the worst feeling in the world. Especially after trying so hard to be a good person.
It isn't logical of course to feel that way and there is undoubtedly some underlying cause to something like consistently awful ownership and management of teams in a given city, but no fan deserves to experience so many painful episodes and so little great or magical moments. What makes Boston fans worthy of experiencing 8 Superbowls 5 World Series and several NBA finals / Stanley Cup appearances in a span of 15 years while fans in other cities don't see their teams have even half that success in their entire lives? It's a sick world.

For that team, I'd go more toward 1997 when they won that great game 7 in the conference finals against the Jazz and then George Karl thought, "I think I'll wait until game 4 to put Payton on Jordan...GENIUS!!!".

For the team that won the title in 1979, that offseason the Lakers took Magic #1 overall after fleecing the Jazz (then in New Orleans) and Dennis Johnson, the MVP of the 1979 finals, suddenly became a "cancer" as Lenny Wilkens put it. We've never been able to keep nice things. :(

Valid point, but won't it be easier if this season ends in heartbreak? They at least added some studs at the deadline, made an effort. I HATE what they do in the off season by himming and hawing and crying fucking poor. I don't give a shit about your finances....you make money, made a shit ton of money during the rebuild, and aren't reinvesting it, so fuck you. BUT...they added two middle of the order bats. They assembled what should be a team that wins the division, and instead? The Pitching continues to under perform and the hitters are still Seattle Mariner hitters. They just put that jersey on and go to shit.

I'll reserve the right to be pissed at them again this winter, since I can already hear them try to tell me why Tellez at 1st, Bliss and 2nd, Polanco at 3rd and Luke Raley DHing is the best they could do....but until then? Right now? Never mind. I'm still pissed that we trailed the Astros at the deadline because we went into the season with that lineup I just rattled off. What a joke.

Still? This season will be easier to take when we miss the playoffs but it's not because the FO sat on it's hands at the deadline, or worse yet? Made a trade that was with all eyes on the future, cough Graveman, cough cough.

No, he was asking why we traded Kemp for Vin Baker the Snack Maker.

That way I can manipulate the narrative how every I want to, or even say I didn't say it, didn't mean it, what ever.

Alvarez is close when he returns they will take off. They must be seriously licking thier cheating chops knowing they can lose and it wont hurt them. Embarrassing. We could have had a 1st place team if only we could have gotten Mets and Orioles. Especially Orioles.
