Re: Most cursed sports city
While Oakland has technically lost its 3 teams, I don't think I'd count the Warriors as they're just across the bay where they used to play before they moved to Oakland. They're fresh off a dynasty and I'd bet that pretty much all of their fans are still fans, unlike the Chargers who most of their fans dumped.

the Warriors celebrate their championships in Oakland
Hundreds of thousands of fans in gold and blue and holding signs that read “Dynasty” and “Back to Back Champions” waved from behind barriers set up along the route in downtown Oakland, California, as the Warriors rode by in an open, double-decker bus.
Stephen Curry, NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant and the rest of the Warriors, who won their third title in four years last week, took turns raising the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the roaring crowd, which officials said could reach up to 1 million fans.

So 12 championships for Oakland, that's seems like a pretty good run. Who's the most spoiled city, Boston? Bet there are Boston sports fans that think they deserve to be on the list of most cursed.

Definitely. If you're from Detroit and you're over 50, at least you have those Pistons and Red Wings championships, plus the Tigers in '84. I'd sure hate to be a Lions fan right now, they just fielded possibly their best team ever last season and in one game it was all gone, talk about a gut punch.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 11:47 amMinneapolis is pretty bleak this century. The Bruins had the best regular season in NHL history a few years ago and then honked the first round of the playoffs, while the 18-0 Patriots blew it in the Helmet Catch Super Bowl. Even the best sports cities aren't immune from getting kicked right in the balls.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 11:37 amSo 12 championships for Oakland, that's seems like a pretty good run. Haha, no shit...right? We'd settle for 10% of their success and I am sure they are still acting like there is some kind of Bambino curse. Fuckers.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 11:37 amSo 12 championships for Oakland, that's seems like a pretty good run. Who's the most spoiled city, Boston? Let's count rings after the helmet catch and compare them to second and goal. Sorry, NOTHING compares to losing a Super Bowl like that, then rapidly falling from Super Bowl contender to playoff contender to just above average in about a decade.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 5:33 pm

How is it rapidly if it is over a decade?Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 11:16 pmLet's count rings after the helmet catch and compare them to second and goal. Re: Most cursed sports city
Name a time after Second and Goal you thought we'd sniff the MRCCG, let alone a SB? Look at the playoff games we won, and tell me which team was even decent? We went from dominant, to a Wildcard team, to mediocre to average. Felt pretty quick to me.Bil522 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 1:35 amHow is it rapidly if it is over a decade?Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 11:16 pmLet's count rings after the helmet catch and compare them to second and goal.
