Holee Sheet! I can't believe I'm leading for once, especially since I have no idea how the scores are being tabulated for this. If it holds up through the weekend, I vow to figure out how the eff it happened!
  Simples, you were the 7th best performing protagonist in the 4 contests we held this year. Therefore, you got the golfers who were ranked 7th, 17th and 27th in the FedEx standings.

I would be happy never having to select a player again for these things. Golf is the only sport less predictable than baseball.

And I am losing because I did not pick mine

Or maybe it was because Viktor Hovland sucks lemons under pressure

Rose just got a triple bogey on hole 1.

How the hell did I get stuck with this clown?
;)

Although I did believe that this format of no draft would work fine, but I am having trouble rooting for people that I didn't chose, so I too think we need to have a draft next year.... then if I pick someone that plays that poor in the championship, it's all on me.
:D

Are you not thinking of the format a little wrong?

All season, you are fighting through the four majors to get the best overall ranking between us lot.

That way, the higher you get your ranking the better your squad would / should / could be. You’ve been setting this squad up all year. Darren has the best overall ranking therefore he deserves to get the best player, Bil is surely going to be relatively satisfied with McIlroy. He won the Masters and ironically ends up with the Green Jacket player.

You need to be spending all season chasing the number one slot, which we’ve all done but failed so you get lumbered with Rose. You can’t expect to get a chance to draft Scheffler when you’ve been nowhere the top of the rankings.

Ok, so you you were ranked 4th and might expect a better player if you choose yourself, but you are talking a little bit with hindsight, as this even says …..

One might say you are throwing the toys out of the pram because your team is shit, but not me as I love you brother

With the same hindsight we could have posted the FedEx rankings every week since the Open and watched our squads change with each tournament,

So after the Wyndham Championship it was
1 Scheffler - DT
2 Rory - Bil
3 Straka - Juliooooo
4 Henley - WWDII (pretty sure you would suddenly be invested if you accidentally ended up with him  )
5 Thomas - me

Then after St Jude Classic,
> JJ Spaun moved up to 3rd into Juliooooo’s squad
> Rose jumped up 21 places by winning it and becoming WWDII’s player, you might have taken that at the time, maybe not?
> Straka drops to 5 and now he’s my guy.

And finally after BMW Championship
> Fleetwood finished T4 and moves up to 5th in rankings and I end with a bonus here. Had he finished 2nd, he would have moved up to 4th and into your squad.

So your investment begins by tracking the rankings for about 3 tournaments and becoming invested differently by deciding what you need from a player to make it into your squad? If you want to take it deadly seriously you could follow it with intense scrutiny of the rankings from the end of the Open in mid July when our rankings are finalised.

Or maybe nobody takes it that seriously and just accepts this was a bit of fun that needed no effort from me,

And besides all that WWD, I’ve suddenly gone into the lead so the format is perfect….

I love Nick Taylor….. at the moment.

Good luck to you. It will be nice for someone other than DT taking the victory lap.

And to answer your question........I WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN HENLEY.
The way I see the first picks going:

1. DT would have taken Scheffler
2. Bil would have taken Rory
3. Jullioooooooo..... who knows
4. Me, I would have taken JT because I follow JT and enjoy his fire on the course. I know he was 12th in FedEx points, but he is golfing better this year than the last two. Please, don't think I would only take the highest rated player because that's not how I roll. I have a tendency of taking players from the USA and guys that I like to watch. Just like I see how you usually take your guys from the UK.

I also do a little research in where they play well:
Rose usually plays well at The Masters
Lowry usually plays well at The Open
Scheffler always plays well EVERYWHERE
Spieth always plays well at the Phoenix Open and the Valero Texas Open

The top 10 players 2025, comments by Chris:
Scheffler - Deserved. He has more than twice as many points as 2nd place Rory..... and he missed the first 6 weeks of the season.
Rory - Deserved
JJ Spaun - OVERRATED, he is nowhere this good and will never be in the top 20 after this year.
Rose - overrated, he is nowhere this good.
Fleetwood - Deserved. But I still don't want him to win on the PGA. And I don't like that stringy mop that he calls hair.
Griffin - Don't follow, maybe I should start
Henley - Don't follow, maybe I should start
Straka - I follow a little, but only if all my other players are taking the week off and I'm having golf withdrawl.
MacIntyre - overrated, but don't really follow him. But I do think he looks dopy like Cam Smith.
McNealey - Follow some, but still would have taken JT.

I believe that 5-6 of the top 10 players are OVERRATED, but would have been good 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Can I suggest that next year, we have at least a 1-round draft. Then after that you put the others in order from highest rating to lowest.

But I love what you have done. I look forward to all our tournaments.

Perfect Format, Mike.
Totally forgot about this. Surprised and so proud of "my" protagonist choices, Mac, Con & Got! OH, MY!!!

Thanks again for doing this and I didn't even have to put on my thinking cap this time.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

I probably would have taken fleetwood. He’s been awesome the last month, just can’t get the win, and I’ve been a big fan of him for a while.

I think part of the fun is trying to predict who will do well, so not having any say in it, it’s not as fun. Just my opinion. Not trying to be too critical because you have done an awesome job with this all year, just some small feedback.

And go Tommy. If he was faced against Cantlay in the Ryder cup, I’d have a hard time cheering for him even though I’m American.

This isn’t the Ryder cup, so it’s easy. Go fleetwood!!!
