There's very little to take away from that game...One thing though might be that if the offensive line is improved that improvement looks pretty thin depth wise. Often times a real quality offensive line is a function of depth as much as anything. Last season shitty performance was about lack of depth
You're absolutely right Donn about that game not being meaningful but even the OL depth issue is not a fair takeaway from yesterday.
NO one on the two deep played at all yesterday, save Laumea, whom despite being listed as second string LG, stands at least a puncher's chance to be cut on Tuesday.
For once it looks like we may have not one but two decent players at Center, one of whom may slide to G if need be for depth.
Zabel is a huge improvement over Tomlinson last year, who played every snap solely because THAT squad had no depth, particularly using a scheme not suited to Haynes.
Add a slimmer, more motivated Bradford to the mix, new swing tackle Josh Jones, and a return to health of Lucas, and while not world-beater per se, the overall OL depth is at least worlds better than last year. And worlds better for the starters at LG and RT (healthy Lucas), fingers crossed.

It's interesting, JS comparing Milroe to Brett Farve, Brett didn't have the most illustrious beginning to his career.

drafted in the second round by Atlanta
Atlanta head coach Jerry Glanville did not approve of the drafting of Favre, saying it would take a plane crash for him to put Favre into the game. Favre's first pass in an NFL regular season game resulted in an interception returned for a touchdown in a week 11 game against the Washington Redskins. He only attempted four passes in his one season with Atlanta, going 0 for 4 with 2 interceptions. Favre took one other snap, which resulted in a sack for an eleven-yard loss.
Green bay trades for him
In the second game of the 1992 season, the Packers played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers were leading 17–0 at halftime, when head coach Mike Holmgren benched starting quarterback Don Majkowski and Favre played the second half. On his first regular season play as a Packer, Favre threw a pass that was deflected by Buccaneers player Ray Seals and caught by Favre. Favre was tackled and the completion went for −7 yards. The Packers lost the game 31–3, chalking up only 106 yards passing. The following week, Majkowski injured a ligament in his ankle against the Cincinnati Bengals, an injury severe enough that he would be out for four weeks. Favre replaced Majkowski for the remainder of the game. Favre fumbled four times during the course of the game, a performance poor enough that the crowd chanted for Favre to be removed in favor of another Packers backup quarterback at the time, Ty Detmer. However, down 23–17 with 1:07 left in the game, the Packers started an offensive series on their own 8-yard line. Favre then completed a 42-yard pass to wide receiver Sterling Sharpe. Three plays later, Favre threw the game–winning touchdown pass to wide receiver Kitrick Taylor with 13 seconds remaining. Favre would go on to keep the starting job for the rest of his tenure in Green Bay. The next week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers started the longest consecutive starts streak for a quarterback in NFL history.
LOL Going to go out on a limb and predict Milroe won't be a HOFer.

sure, in 1991 would you have predicted Farve going to the HOF? Of course what JS was alluding to is a sort of "boom or bust" approach.
“I was lucky to be around Brett Favre at a very young age,” explained Schneider, “and there was a lot of ‘Wow’ and there was a lot of ‘Whoa’ to throws. And so (Milroe)’s got some of those wows and those whoas.

I watched some of the 2nd 1/2. Milroe had a bad pass where the 5th string tight end just stopped and weighted on the ball and the defender drove on it and stepped on front that could have been picked. I saw one brilliant pass near the sideline to white that was on time and on the money. From what I saw the offense was all vanilla.

Meaningless.
like MM was saying, they were probably more interested in his just operating the huddle properly and whatever than running exciting plays
If he played four quarters of foot to see how he could operate a huddle? Then they might as well deactivate him every game this year.

I would have expected him to be deactivated every game this season other than they get to carry three qbs without it impacting the roster.
