Fuck Eddie Vedder and his stupid Cup 'o shit...

Hate the marketing bullshit with this team. It's geared to the shishkaberry crowd that dominates the Seattle sports scene. :x
So they shouldn't market themselves? STFU.

And STFU to all you cocksuckers that think you are cool talking this incoherent BS.

I can't even hear his name without thinking of this Weird Al song and now it's stuck in my head.

I think this Vedder Cup thing is kind of weird.

It's a bit of diversionary nonsense for people with low attention spans that can't stay focused on what matters.

People with low attention spans that can't stay focused on what matters:
Yeah, that's called.. The World? Society?

This stuff is silly, but take solace knowing it's universal in pro sports these days, not in any way just a Seattle thing. Notice how every team has some dugout prop for homeruns? Every time anyone gets a hit, there's some hand signal they do to the dugout and bullpen? Every stadium plays the same crowd-pleasing motivational music/sound-effects ("everybody clap your hands.... Clap clap clap...).

The soccer moms taking kids to the stadium for chocolate-covered strawberries and Funko Pop night are subsidizing us. Casual fans and families keep things afloat for the old-timers who are just here for the baseball.

well you know Korea uses cheerleaders, I'm sure you guys would find that too distracting from your precious baseball game

Yes!
Can’t wait to go Wednesday on my day off. Keep it rolling.
Don't forget to stay for the Vedder Cup presentation. We want to see pictures that we can save and relish for our remaining lifetimes.

This is who Cal has always been as a hitter.

He's not particularly disciplined and not much of a contact guy... he's just tapped into a lot more power.
exactly, remember going back and forth about it. You wanted him to develop his offense, be a middle of the order bat, I claimed we shouldn't expect much more than an elite catcher that could deliver some pop. And did he ever develop his offense, he developed his pop! lol

Was thinking awhile ago people would be suspicious of peds, that's seems more of a thing of the past these days. Was Cano the last big scandal? It's more of a minor league issue now isn't it

David Schenfield with an in depth look at Cal's season if anybody is interested.
While Raleigh has slowed down since the All-Star break, especially in the batting average department, his season is also particularly impressive because he's doing this in a very pitcher-friendly home park. He's hitting .223/.317/.572 with 24 home runs at home and .269/.385/.614 with 25 home runs on the road. His home run rate is similar, but no doubt he has lost a few home runs to the marine layer in Seattle. To hit 50 home runs in a tough home run park as a catcher playing almost every game is a stunning accomplishment.
