I wonder if Robles had waited until his next plate appearance (assuming Estes was still pitching) then "lost his grip" on the bat while swinging, sending it careening towards the pitcher, if he would have received as long a suspension or any at all. Ken Griffey did this one time and i don't recall there being a suspension.

Its pretty unprecedented
“The event itself is kind of unprecedented,” Dipoto said, “which is why to have a Major League player on a rehab assignment who's kind of caught up in a moment like that, it just doesn't happen. So there was no real precedent for ever having dealt with anything like this before. So [in terms of] the days, the dollars, we were anticipating something significant, and it's pretty significant.”

Contreras hits his own coach with his bat
Cardinals bench coach Daniel Descalso then grabbed Contreras and led him away. But Contreras appeared to throw his bat at first base umpire Stu Scheurwater, but it instead struck Cardinals hitting coach Brant Brown on his arm.

Yeah, but in today's world? Ten games. Fucking ridiculous. Let's pretend that it's harder to get out of the way of a bat flung from behind Home Plate than a Fastball at your head. I still can't get over the fact that a Major Leaguer on a rehab assignement was thrown at five times in AAA and we didn't do dick. Again? The second time he got thrown at? I'd have hit the next four batters. Why not? It's fucking AAA?seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 12:48 amhttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/oIzqFdzmOGg
Not the first and won't be the last.

My guess is he is working on his swing and has no inclination that he is going to have to dive out of the box. I saw it, but then let's pretend that it was ONLY three times that they hit him. You thing that is what they had in mind when they sent him on a rehab assignment?

I think those were what's called "defensive swings".

Main thing is to have Robles for post season. I think he's the type of player that will have no problems with the big stage. Same thing with Polanco.
Does the suspension even impact post-season?
