Unfortunately, Robbie Ray will always be known for giving up the HR to Alvarez in game 1. A game we were in command all day. Just like last night. At least for me.

If you don't think SSs and Catchers don't have more value defensively than a DH I don't know what to tell you. Edgar put up 60+ WAR as a DH, about the same as Ichiro and Jim Edmonds who was a great CF so it isn't a huge part of the WAR Calc.Michael K. wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:47 amPay a SS mote if you want, this has nothing to with salary. I could not care less about saving some fat fucking billionaire money. Some dude gets stuck into the lineup at SS, and gets a WAR bump? Stupid stat.
Do you think Nelson Cruz deserved to lose 17.5 points a year? Utterly useless stat.
So you think Edgar deserved a negative 17 in WAR because he was that invaluable those Mariner teams? No fucking chance Julio's CF defense was a +20 or what ever above Edgar because he runs to CF. When Dylan got steady playing time, he was an above average player. Like many players he was streaky, but unlike most players, any time he'd be on a down streak, they'd replace him with the prospect-of-the-week.
For some reason I thought Moore was hurt this year....and when he came back he was terrible. Am I misremembering?bpj wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 5:28 pm

When they started jerking him around, he'd fall off. Including this year.
This season, prior to the Mariners calling up Cole Young, Moore had played 45 games and gotten 143 plate appearances. An average of 3.11 per game.
He had an .803 OPS and a 126 wRC+, and was on pace for 2.4 fWAR, while playing multiple positions.
Then, they handed his playing time to Cole Young/Ben Williamson. After 5/31, when Young was called up, Moore got 70 plate appearances in 44 games (1.59 per game). And didn't play half the games in between. Jerked around.
And then fans are like, wow, what's wrong with Dylan Moore?? All he's ever needed is steady playing time. Instead, they'd call up Kelenic, or any of these other bums they've run through here and leapfrogged over Moore his entire career. They wasted a good player by handing the opportunites to a long list of losers hoping they'd be better than Moore.
not everybody gets to play all the time, I don't know if that's being jerked around. It's a role a team needs to fill, and its an important role. Other players seemed to have been able to do it. Seems a little odd to me to say the guy can't handle part time work so we need to make him full time.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:28 pmFor some reason I thought Moore was hurt this year....and when he came back he was terrible. As for why they jerked him around, it seemed they always excused it by saying he was better when he wasn't out there full time...right? That always seemed odd to me. What player gets better with intermittent playing time?
They used him how they used him, and that's what they got.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:51 pmnot everybody gets to play all the time, I don't know if that's being jerked around. because he is filling a role, then you have to find someone else to fill that role
It's, "Moore has already been contributing while he's on the field, why tf are you leapfrogging him to get these two rookies playing time?!"
