That Ferguson call may have accounted for the entire .47 run advantage for TB.
Is that what it its? The overall percentages there don't seem bad. Was it generally a shitty job?
The"called strike accuracy" was pretty bad. I don't know how they calculate the "overall favor", but the top 3 "impactful missed calls" all worked to TB's favor which seems to indicate a bias.
bias? I suppose, but for me, if you want to get the calls then don't play shitty baseball, if the mariners can't complain about being tired, they don't get to complain about bias either

It is completely illogical that an ump would intentionally favor one team or the other. What was he born and raised in Tampa Bay and always has been a huge Rays fan or what???

I could see an ump subconsciously favoring a team that played better.

Maybe subconsciously but so many conspiracy theorists out there that think the Leagues and or the Refs/Umps want a certain team to win. It has been the Chiefs in recent years and then it was the Pats and Yankees. It is asinine.

okay, I am firmly in the, umps are part of the game camp, so umps have as much latitude to fuck up as the players do. I hadn't thought of it as a particular pitch though. It's true i guess that certain pitches are more important than others. I don't think there's much bias, such calls should more or less even out statistically. I never heard of winning teams complaining about calls

Why are you two obsessing on the notion of bias? I was just trying to explain how the ump scorecard could be interpreted in response to DB's post. I probably should have used another word, but come on...
