At first I thought you were misspelling Charbonnet's name and I was so confused. lolauroraave wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 1:07 amSo we're out of the gate at 0-1!
Hard to put too much into this game, but overall, this team has a pretty good ceiling and a high floor. Opening against a very formidable division rival and barely losing - not the desired start but this team shows a lot of promise.
I still consider this preseason since I have not seen a complete NFL game from any team in the last ten years before the 4th week of the season - thanks to the Player Union softening practices into flag football territory and the ever shrinking preseason games so we can tack on a 17 and 18th game when no one is watching. It's coming - you know it is. Looking forward to the 19th and 20th games being played in Antarctica at the new 7-11 Slurpee Stadium.
Some key turning points.
On Chardonnay's initial TD drive - two crushing third down conversions - one on a roughing the passer penalty and the other a third and long. Um, I thought that was the old Seahawks? Those two plays gave me major PTSD.
On Chardonnay's game winning drive - the most inept coverage blunder allowed a 45 yard pass play that basically was the nail in the coffin. While the defense was mostly good, there were some incredibly mind-bogglingly immature moments - and some flat out shitty coverage - from a secondary that is supposed to be 'all that' but instead looks NOT ready for Prime Time.
To be fair - they are still shaking the rust off and we will need another 2-3 games to see what we have.
The hand wringing over the offense is going to be super fun to watch on here. Fire Schneider! Dump Darnold! Bring back Russ! I do cherish the utterly hilarious overreactions coming.
Relax. It's one game. If you thought they were going to be lights out right out of the gate and hang a 50 burger on Chardonnay Nation - well perhaps you need to have realistic expectations instead.
Of course they are going to start slow offensively - LOTS of new parts - we're still in 'preseason' mode. While there weren't a lot of highlights, and there was definitely some inconsistencies, the offensive line looked decent and the running backs came to play. No, Darnold is not getting a Canton jacket off of today's game, but once this offense gets going they'll be fine - and by fine I mean a consistent ground game with a complimentary passing game - they won't be Houston's Run N Gun hanging 70 on Oklahoma A & M, but they should be able to manage well once they have time to develop together in concert with the defense getting dialed in.
That field goal before half time was a drive of beautiful execution - Darnold's run was a spectacular play call and executed perfectly - don't forget that - that's a critical two minute drill preview of what their potential can be.
I really hate to say this but SF looked pretty good - and Seattle hung right with them all the way. A rather dull game with a few big plays sprinkled in. Seattle's Achilles heal today was third down conversions and a number of busted coverages - and the inability to contain McCaffrey and Pearsall who may be getting fit for Canton off of today's resume.
Put the razor blades away, stop hand wringing that the undefeated season expectations you laid on the team have collapsed - it's one game showing plenty of potential and also plenty of work to be done.
When was the last time this team really fired out of the gate in week one? I can't even remember. Most games are REALLY sloppy for the first quarter of the season anymore - this has been going on for a while now for those with short term memory loss.
A tough luck loss but not a gut wrenching heartbreaker. Overall, about what I was expecting - a low scoring sloppy battle with just enough plays to make the difference - this time SF made them - but we also handed them those two crushing third down conversions on that first drive and that was the most painful part of the game for me - and that utterly pathetic whiff by Woolen who should be donating his game check to a Blind Man's charity. That was beyond embarrassing.
Rodgers and The Human Personal Foul are gonna torch this secondary next week if they don't get their shit together right quick.
Any word on Emmanwori's status? Another strained labia?
This, too, shall pass.
Go Hawks...

Blaming a showboat dipshit in Woolen for being, again, mentally and physically weak is not the same asMichael K. wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 6:14 pmKupp's "effort" was pointed out. Everyone is just to busy blaming the defense to consider ripping into this dogshit offense that we were promised all off season would be better.
I'd kill to be Kubiak or Darnold right now. Totally suck ass at your job and make millions anyway? And everyone else is at fault. Sounds nice.
"blaming the defense and giving the offense a pass". Nobody here has said the offense was even above average yesterday.
You are making that up. That you can't get anyone else to completely agree with your yearly overreaction doesn't mean
they are fine with yesterday's offense. The defense, just like they did for a lot of last year, looked pretty good and
hopefully on the verge of being great. Nobody said the defense as a whole was or is bad. Just Woolen. Are you giving
Woolen a pass because the rest of the defense was pretty good? Woolen doesn't get a pass just because you are
losing your shit, again, about the offense. Woolen didn't just choke once, it was twice. Both times he could have
won made us a mortal lock to win the game, but instead he played like a fool. He does it all the time. I don't give
a shit what some daffy stat says. This is who he is. He needs gone.

IMO, that wasn't quite shit. I've seen shit. This was more anemic. Brock said he felt they were playing it safe.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 09, 2025 3:17 amthe offense looked like shit, they were ahead with 3 minutes to go, it was a winnable game
I think that's always a bad idea, but since it's likely that's what they were doing, that explains some of it.
Darnold doesn't look or act confident with MM and Kubi yet. Darnold is just a game manager anyway.
But the worst was Kubiak being a pussy play caller. that must end.
I wanna see the MM that fired Dotson and that other LB in the middle of the season last year.
I wanna see Woolen lose his job. I wanna see Charbonnett as the feature back. I wanna see the two
tight ends and the FB run game we got a taste of in pre-season.

I want to see a QB like JJ that gave me the week 1 win in the pick em pool. lol

well seems we won't be seeing Nick Emmanwori for awhile
Mike Macdonald said Monday afternoon further medical tests the day after the rookie safety injured his ankle on the fifth defensive play of the Seahawks’ opening-game loss to San Francisco revealed ligament damage.

I am in God's country Wenatchee. Did you see my post about yesterday being the first time the M's outscored the Hawks since Sept. 18th 2016? Do you remember where you were that day. lol

Re: Postmortem - Hawks v Chardonnay Nation
seems a little harsh
I have formed an opinion actually, sort of adding things up...You have JS trading off his veteran offensive pieces, as well as getting an extension. I mean there was all the talk about JS gambling, hot seat, all that was quickly put to rest with Jody's move. They brought in MM and he's been working on his defense. Now its Kubick and the offense, they seem committed with the entire staff and all that. But the deal is, its not going to be an overnight deal, and frankly they don't have the weapons. What they do have is a young roster and a ton of cap space coming up next season, as well as an interesting young qb on the roster. What I am getting at is I think this is basically a bit of a tank job. They would like to make the playoffs of course but its not like anybody's job is on the line if they don't. Jody made that clear, I think that's her in agreement with the strategy. I think they really are aiming a year or two down the road. JS's job now is to go find the offensive talent to compete on that side of the ball, and they need to decide on a qbIt's probably too soon for the Seahawks to consider benching Darnold, but Bleacher Report's Alex Kay thinks it could be a possibility if Seattle comes out slow in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"While there's still hope for better days after Seattle's defense kept a Christian McCaffrey-led backfield in check and recorded a pair of interceptions on Brock Purdy, this offense was concerningly bad," Kay wrote. "If this group comes out flat against the Pittsburgh Steelers next week, it will mark the beginning of the end for the Darnold era."
