Lineup changes for GM 5 Wilson needs to make
Lineup changes for GM 5 Wilson needs to make
It's imperative the Mariners grab an early lead on Skubal to allow Kirby to cook. 2-0, 3-0 by the 4th will be huge! And I think we need to go with small ball and working the count to put pressure on Scooby. Perhaps some early bunt action for base hits?
Here is the lineup I want to see:
Rivas 2b/Robles RF*
Raleigh C
Rodriguez CF
Polanco dh
Naylor 1b
Arozarena LF
Robles RF/Rivas 2B
Crawford SS
Williamson 3B
Rivas has a great eye and really can bunt. I'd have him work the count and if he falls behind, bunt for a hit. I also am pushing the btm of the lineup from Robles to Williamson to work counts and bunt for hits if the opportunity presents itself.
*Edited to show Robles as another option to leadoff. He's worked some walks of late and can also bunt very well, has the speed you want to fuck things up on the bases

most important game of the season and you are sitting Suárez for Williamson, interesting

I think I am, yes. Get that swing and miss out of the lineup. Better d at 3b, tooDonn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 2:47 ammost important game of the season and you are sitting Suárez for Williamson, interesting

sure, bench the 126 OPS+ for the 76 OPS+, sounds like a planVogelbomb wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 2:57 amI think I am, yes. Get that swing and miss out of the lineup. It's purely hypothetical because Geno must be in the lineup for PR reasons.
If you put in Williamson and he fails, it's a PR nightmare.
If you put in Geno and he fails, then it's Mariners baseball!

I would most definitely rock the 126+, no doubt in my mind about that at all
Re: Lineup changes for GM 5 Wilson needs to make
Whatever with the Williamson/Suarez idea, bottom line is swap Rivas for Garver and move either Robles or Rivas to the leadoff spot. I want someone willing to create some havoc by laying down a bunt, taking a walk, stealing bases. I know Randy can do that too (steal, walk) but he's not as apt to bunt as Robles is. I think we've got to put the pressure on Detroit, especially early

I have commented before, I believe baseball is really about comfort zones and routines. You hear that a lot, players want to know their roles and prepare for them, that sort of thing, and managers are careful about that stuff. But for fans it seems to be more the opposite. Fans tend to be interested in mixing stuff up. I just really doubt in this sort of game Wilson will decide to shuffle his lineup. Maybe he should but I doubt it happens
