I’m absolutely done with JP.

Enough of Logan as our ace.

Our starters I think were over 7 era this series.

We just can’t have a homer or nothing offense.

I’m not even getting mad anymore. Fan since 1978, they will always let us down.

Oh well. They are the mariners after all.

I don't really feel all that let down.

The team had glaring weaknesses. Always did. I never really felt this was the year.

Prayers up Julio takes a Cal leap over the next few years. Boy do we need it.

Springer has played 77 playoff games. 77.

Experience will hopefully pay off for us guys.

Yeah, wait till next year.... we have deadwood to clear out.... that Jays lineup is relentless.... we could be also. They will give the Dodgers all they can handle, IMO

Agreed whole heartedly. Never once got there with this team after the early injuries to the rotation and Robles and then never finding our pitching form until late in Sept. BUT we gained invaluable experience despite all of that. We saw Cal have a historic campaign. We saw Woo, Bazardo, Brash and Polanco all have career years. We saw Rodriguez take a major step forward in a lot of ways.

And Dan Wilson got a first year as a manager under his belt.

This organization is on the up and up and these players are all going to be better for what they just went through.

Jettison the fat and let's start running lean. Time for 4 WS in 6 years!

What a game, what a series and what a season.

M's will learn from this and be better. Not just player by player or manager Dan Wilson, but the franchise as a whole. Improvements are coming from top to bottom. M's will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

There's nothing like coming up short like this to push you forward. Think about 2003 Red Sox. I think we'll look back on 2025 Mariners as the team that set the stage for a dynasty.
You really think they're going to have same roster next year? I mean, come on - lay off the poppers. Did the 1995 Mariners improve from top to bottom and set the stage for a dynasty or did the team flop and fail to make the playoffs (with four future HoFers no less) 3 of the next 4 seasons? This might be the last time they're in an ALCS for another 24 years. Nobody knows.

That's the same for pretty much every team.

Did anyone really predict the Mariners would make the ALCS this year? Nope. The Jays? Certainly not.

The M's were predicted to finish 3rd in the division by most.

Bottom line is this team is set up for the future. And that's all you can ask for.

I’m strangely indifferent. Likely years of being disappointed has numbed me to it all.

I didn’t see them winning once the series went back to Toronto - the offense was too tepid. Someone put it perfectly when they said that the offense can’t just be Julio and Cal hitting dingers. They have to play small ball. Case in point, they laid down a perfect bunt tonight and moved runners to second and third with one out…and they couldn’t score a run. And they played Woo for one inning too long.

Our starting rotation is fine - just young. Our bullpen needs an overhaul. Good lord. We need splashy moves to lock down 1B and 3B. We likely need an upgrade at the keystone. And I’d be all for offloading JP. So, yeah - a whole new infield.

But none if that will happen. We almost went to the World Series with Dipoto’s broke assed bitch strategy. Expect another offseason of dumpster diving.

We were just one swing of a bat short of reaching the World Series. A World Series which, if we are honest with ourselves we probably would have been way short of challenging to win.

Too many players didnt turn up at all, or didnt turn up at the key moments. The Blue Jays are a great team as well. Lets not forget that either.

Grade A - Turned Up in playoffs
> Julio
> Cal
> Daddy Naylor
> Polanco
> Bazardo, mostly

Grade B - Did Ok to above average
> Muñoz

Grade C - inconsistencies to work on
> Brash

Grade D - One moment wonders otherwise anonymous
> Rivas
> Suarez
> Speier
> Robles

Grade E - Missing in action
> Arozarena
> JP
> Pre natal Naylor ie forgiven
> Canzone

Grade F - What's the Point?
> Ferguson
> Hancock
> Vargas
> Garver

I have left the starting pitching out because there wouldnt be an ALCS if it weren't for their extraordinary performance in ALDS 5, but they each delivered a costly flop afterwards.

I think we only needed 1 of JP, Randy or Geno to achieve a grade A. In fact a Grade B would have done and we go through.

Gosh, how close were we?

Thats exactly how I felt this season. Felt like another season of Dipoto going almost all the way. I couldn't make myself feel excited about them this year. I pictured them as an early exit wild card type team.

Great job to the players for putting together a good season. Cal's a monster. Hope that sticks around.

Dipoto made some nice pick ups at mid-season, but still just a bit short.

People seem content with the starting pitching, and they're good dudes, but we don't really have an ace, especially when Woo's hurt by years end.

The moves we need will be obvious again, and Dipoto will ignore them as usual and look for an "under the radar" move to save cash.

But, as for the players, what a year overall. Hopefully Dipoto gets the team set up from day 1 next season. And then add on from there.
