And I think that applies to his offensive line as well. Everyone roasted him over the line and everyone had the same solution, pay for talent. Again JS bucked the popular opinion and focused on coaching. What strikes me is I feel like his vision went beyond Pete's in terms of how to approach the coaching.
Not quite. The main solution people wanted to see was using a high draft pick or two to improve the line and that's what he did. I wish he had gone with another instead of Milroe but whatever. There were dome FAs on their final years he could have signed to play RG and we'll see if that comes back to bite them.
Yeah, I only remember the one FA O Lineman, guy from Detroit I believe. We wanted him to pass a physical, so he signed a similar deal with someone else. A lot of people were pissed about not getting that guy. Otherwise? I agree. Most wanted him to draft O Lineman, and most loved Zabel. Most of the mock drafts we all did had MANY O Lineman in them. That seemed to be where he bucked the trend.

But really? Milroe was the pivot, and I think most of us liked that pick With the knowledge we had at the time, unsure about Darnold, etc.? What was wrong with that pick? No one questioned the first three, maybe Mills, the DT we took in round 5? But look at that draft, and tell me who you don't want?

Zabel, Emmanwori, Arroyo, Horton, Ouzts.....that is 5 guys in the first 7 picks that I don't think anyone would want to change. JS has really knocked the past several drafts out of the park. It's kind of why we are back to a young, fast, hungry and physical football team.

Could the line be better? Sure, but I bet we would be hard pressed to find many NFL fans that would tell us all five or their O Lineman are even above average. Cross and Lucas are finally both healthy, that makes a HUGE difference. I also think Sam helps tremendously. Watch Russ and Geno play QB right now. I realize Russ is a shell of his former self, but what we had the last couple of years with him here is pretty close to what the Giants have right now. And Howell? I mean, we played a broke down Geno because Howell was so bad.

Looks like all Schneider needed was an extension. What kind of asshat fan wouldn't agree?

There was Joe Thuney also that KC gave up for a 2026 4th rounder. His cap hit with the Bears this season is $8 mil, but in the 2 year extension they signed him to the cap hit goes up to $21.5 mil for '26 and '27. I doubt JS would have gone for that. But even as a one-year rental it would have been a huge upgrade. They would have had to put Zabel at RG but that wouldn't have been a problem for a guy that played multiple line positions in college.

Clearly Bradford is the weak link but 21/22 isn't bad. Who is the second worst starter???

I'd say Sundel, but I haven't exactly been studying the O Line play. There really hasn't been that much reason to. It's again, why I am confused by the handwringing. I really do think if that low light video of Bradford wasn't out there? No one would have even worried about it. The Bills, who were supposed to be a Super Bowl team? Just got trounced by Miami. Baltimore was supposed to be a Super Bowl contender and they are 4 and 5. Kansas City is 5 and 4. We are ahead of SF, Green Bay and Detroit.

I just find it tough to be too upset that they didn't give up draft capital to add a Guard that is probably a bit better than our worst O Lineman. Maybe it was just that I had such low expectations for this Offense this year, but damn....what an embarrassment of riches that other than one Guard position, we are pretty damn set!

It was basically a straight Smith for Milroe swap. Seems now Milroe needs to be traded.

There was a my northwest deal, Brock hurd I believe. Saying JS had bucked the popular opinion and gone young. Huh..his Olines have always been young haven't they? That's been a trademark seems to me

I'm saying she delegates, I doubt Jody Allen sits there writing out a contract she wants JS to sign. It's going to be negotiated between JSs agent and someone with the seahawks, I doubt its Jody Allen.

It be interesting to know more about who is more behind the scenes. When Paul hired Pete he was relying on the guy that went on to the kraken deal or was that the brother.

Remember when Pete got canned, his meeting he complained about, it was in the plural. He couldn't get them to understand football stuff. I have wondered who that was.

You familiar with Bert Kolde? Was Paul's college roommate? He seems to get characterized as kind of a Svengali. Paul relied on him a lot as does Jody. There's more controversy with him and the trailblazers

Yeah, Sundel is probably journeyman level. A big deal that I think gets overlooked is Lucas getting healthy. There was a lot of generalization, the line is shitty, but they had a decent pair of tackles and a center.

I think getting away from the reliance on shotgun has helped. I'm thinking there's a rhythm to it, that's what the play calling can contribute. Run blocking really is fun and it gets them in rhythm as a unit, does that make any sense?

The carnage from the 2024 HC hiring cycle, but for the grace of God go thee. Kafka was interviewed twice by the seahawks, he's been named interim for the giants
Seven other head coaches were hired in 2024, the year Mike Macdonald was hired but Mike Kafka was not. Here’s the latest:

Antonio Pierce was fired by the Raiders
Jerod Mayo was fired by the Patriots
Brian Callahan was fired by the Titans, the first coaching casualty this season
Dave Canales led the Panthers to a 5-12 record in ‘24, and has brought them finally to 5-5 this season
Jim Harbaugh is fine
Raheem Morris is headed towards a second straight losing record with the Falcons
Dan Quinn’s Commanders have taken a massive step backward, and it’s not only because of Jayden Daniels injuries
Harbuagh and Macdonald are the runaway winners of the ‘24 hirings, and it’s not remotely close after that.
I really wasn't excited about replacing Pete, not because of being a Pete lover but just the odds of finding another decent coach. But they did it, JS did it, he nailed it. Just like looking for a qb, you could be stuck with a decade of mediocrity. Titans fans have to be going nuts
