You keep making this is about being a Pete fan. I'm saying I think there was a time when it worked with them working together, then it didn't based on the two articles. Yeah, the team got better replacing smith with darnold and that could have led to the chism, but I also think they were in agreement on smith originally. What I find more interesting is how the offensive line was improved once Pete left and I believe that had a lot to do with changing the coaching approach rather than the personnel

What an astute observation....it worked at one time. You mean when they made back to back Super Bowls? The beginning of the end was second and goal and the league adapting. Pete never adapted, still hasn't.
Kubiak has made a difference, but so has having both starting Tackles and Gray Zabel. Grubb gets vilified, and rightly so in some instances, but the O Line he was given was horseshit.
And again, yes, you are a fan of Pete's. No one that reads your stuff would argue that. He was a big part of why we went from the best young team in the league to what we were a few years ago....a team that either didn't make the playoffs or took an early exit.
Schneider and MM seem to be the same type of combo that Pete and JS were in the early days. That said, I don't see any way Pete would have a defense in the top five that is starting Ty Okada, Drake Thomas and Tryce Knight in positions manned on his defense by Bobby, Earl and KJ. The more clips I see? It is flat out impressive what MM is doing. Pete deserves credit for recognizing the talent that others didn't in Bobby, Kam, Sherm, KJ and for rebuilding the D Line, relatively on the cheap. But I don't think he was the schematic master that MM is. I have been pretty blown away watching the break downs of how MM has schemed up blitzes, coverages, etc. It's crazy.
MM strikes me as the anti-Pete. He is going to figure out ways to scheme against the opponent each and every week. Pete had a style that we were going to play, come Hell or High Water.
