Saw that the Dodgers non tendered former closer Evan Phillips. He had Tommy John in late May. He might be a nice sneaky bullpen piece late in the season. Maybe sign him to a 2yr $10mil option contract. He gets $2mil in '26 and a team option of $8mill in '27. Get him healthy and he pitches well later in the year. If that is the case then option is a no brainer to pick up and have a possible trade chip in '27 or stay and pitch and help the M's win back to back WS.

Here is our Rule V eligible guys:

https://sports.mynorthwest.com/mlb/seat ... ft/1829916

1. Morales looks like a bust. Paid way over slot Bonus money too. Got almost 3x the bonus than Cal did. 1% chance of getting drafted

2. Marcelo Perez is 26 yo on 62 Ks in 91 innings seems like organization filler. 5% chance of getting drafted

3. Luis Suisbel 22 yo just a .720 OPS and a crazy high K rate. Doubt he EVER makes the Bigs let alone get drafted. 0% chance of getting drafted.

4. Carlos Jimenez 22 yo .777 OPS but only in A ball. Stole 30 bags. 1% chance of getting drafted

5. Vic Labrada 25 yo .808 OPS in the high minors with 44 steals. Good little player. 30% chance he gets drafted

6. Tyler Cleveland 26 yo 0.87 ERA 0.96 WHIP in A and AA We should protect him because there is at least a 50% chance he gets drafted and our mlb pen could use him more than the bums that Locked on Sports suggested.

If it were my choice, I would have tried to protect Morales.

Why? Zero chance another team thinks that they can keep him on the roster and in their rotation all season. Almost a 5 ERA and 1.4 WHIP in AA. He has never throw a pitch as a reliever. Rule V guys are almost never starters. Either relievers or Utility guys.

Five pitches, good command, strong mechanics, good athlete, healthy, and young. His best pitch is his changeup, which guys have made careers on. I could see a team taking a flyer on that, though it's hard to imagine he sticks on a roster for an entire year. But I would still try to protect him for one more year, especially with the roster at 38.

But obviously my opinion isn't the one that matters.

Santos non tendered. Traded Prelander and Zach DeLoach for him so no big deal.
THAT IS STRANGE!

Unless he had a drop in velocity this makes 0.
He had off field issues in terms of rehab and work ethic. Good riddance.
Where did you hear that? I had not heard any grumbling about he is not performing the tasks he was given. But I guess that makes at least some sort of reasoning behind it.

I can't believe you don't have internet access, have never heard of Google or AI and get your newspaper a week late because it is delivered by the Pony Express.

I think I liked what JRod did a lot better. He says he needs 3 days off after playing a few innings in an all star game? And the break was 4 days already?

Prima-donna!
