People are openly cheering for Colt Emerson to be the opening day 3B.

Jeremy Krom Tweets: "they want that draft pick."

Yeah, apparently a hell of a lot more than a World Series.

JFC what are we doing?
He is currently listed at 20th most likely to win the ROY at +2200. If they make the decision to put him on the OD roster because of the very slight chance of getting the draft pick they are insane.

Absolutely insane career for him. Did make his pro debut until he was 24 yo and made it in Mexico. Then went to Japan and pitches there for YEARS. Did not pitch Stateside until he was 31 yo. Now has a $45 million deal at age 34.

Interesting. I didn't have any idea. The very definition of a late bloomer. Good for him.

Also, I found this from Jeff Passan interesting - Atlanta's pitching looks dominant next season. Yikes:

Between Robert Suarez and Raisel Iglesias, Atlanta now has two of the five relievers with the most saves over the last two seasons. With a healthy Chris Sale, Spencer Schwellenbach and Spencer Strider, plus a full season of Hurston Waldrep.

Weird. Iglesias had a bad first half by his standards...

Turned it into a 1.76 ERA 2nd half.

And no more Kelenic. Really curious if a team is dumb enough to even waste an NRI on him...he was so bad last season in AAA.

The Locked On guys suggested these guys as relief pitcher targets:

1. Luke Weaver, RHP (Free Agent)
2. Shawn Armstrong, RHP (Free Agent)
3. Matt Strahm, LHP (Phillies, one year left on deal)
4. Tyler Rogers, RHP (Free Agent)
5. Hunter Harvey, RHP (Free Agent)

I think Luke Weaver or Shawn Armstrong would be outstanding.
Tyler Rogers would be my pick because of the submarine style and 148 ERA+ career.

Morosi on yesterday I think made a mental gaff when he said the M's wouldn't do "Hancock +" for Marte but he brought up Arenado as a stop gap at 3B.

Interesting idea... Arenado was BAD last year. But if he's a .750 OPS bat for one more season with decent defense and the Cards pay most of the salary wouldn't be terrible to bring a vet like him in.
