Morosi on yesterday I think made a mental gaff when he said the M's wouldn't do "Hancock +" for Marte but he brought up Arenado as a stop gap at 3B.

Interesting idea... Arenado was BAD last year. But if he's a .750 OPS bat for one more season with decent defense and the Cards pay most of the salary wouldn't be terrible to bring a vet like him in.
Saw yesterday we aren't pursing a 3B. It will be Colt or Ben. Donovan and obviously Polo would be our 2B and maybe Donovan plays some RF to give Cole some time at 2B.

Dipoto was on today and said they want to add a player who can play both I guess... says he wants to take pressure off Ben and Colt's bats.

WORLD SERIES OR BUST! Think the Dodgers are worried about taking pressure off a bat in their lineup?

PATHETIC.

Absolutely insane career for him. Did make his pro debut until he was 24 yo and made it in Mexico. Then went to Japan and pitches there for YEARS. Did not pitch Stateside until he was 31 yo. Now has a $45 million deal at age 34.

Also, I found this from Jeff Passan interesting - Atlanta's pitching looks dominant next season. Yikes:

Between Robert Suarez and Raisel Iglesias, Atlanta now has two of the five relievers with the most saves over the last two seasons. With a healthy Chris Sale, Spencer Schwellenbach and Spencer Strider, plus a full season of Hurston Waldrep.
And no more Kelenic. Really curious if a team is dumb enough to even waste an NRI on him...he was so bad last season in AAA.
Yep. He's available, folks. At this point, the M's could sign him for a loyalty card that’s already been declined by Quiznos and the half-hearted commitment from Jerry to quit microwaving tilapia at 9 am in the front office break room ... and the analytics department would still protest the overspend.

And you are right - he was so awful that MLB analysts invented a new metric just for him: Wins Above Dumpster.

Yeah Donovan can play third but they are getting a pure 3B is how I took it. Yeah imagine being so confident in your great farm system that you need to trade for or sign a back up plan in case they suck.

Giants are shopping the #12 prospect in baseball. 1B and DH Bryce Eldridge. He is a Giant literally at 6'7" and 240 lbs. He got a cup of coffee this season and sucked. He only had a .836 OPS in the PCL in 2025. That is very pedestrian. For reference Miles M. had a .832 OPS and Ben Williamson had a .854 OPS for Tacoma.

Case in point for why playing a 20 year old is a bad idea when you're trying to contend.

ARod stunk his first go.

Griffey was fine but not the Griffey we know.

And these are HOF's.

The vast majority of MLB players don't turn into much until they're in year 3-4.

Also, he has an .873 OPS in the minors. Even for a 20 year old, for a first baseman that's not very good. The Giants are trying to see what they can get for him before he ends up with no value.

I don't get why you rush a guy like that. His minor league numbers are decent, but nothing to make you want to promote a 20-year-old to the majors so soon.

Why aren't we looking at Bliss if were going internal might as well as some speed in there. I'll take the defense with BWill. All's he's gotta do is put the ball in play & not strikeout.

He's not very good IMO.
