Postmortem: NFCCG / Real SB: Sea v Lambs

... is what I started humming after Woolen's epic meltdown. I hjonestly thought that would cost us the game. I really thought that was it. "OMG, we just blew a SB run in the worst fucking way imaginable." I thought I was dreaming. NO one could fuck up that bad, right? All the air went out of our sails. Lambs had all the momentum, thanks to a stunning fuck up. Woolen won the Super Bowl of stupidity. Was the penalty warranted? I don't know. But he followed that up with waht we all knew was coming - a deep shot to Nacua. Duh.

But The Darnold said "no problem", like he did all night. Dude is the MVP of that game. All he did was absolutely ball all night, throwwing darts all over the field. He did have two errant passes, one in the edzone that Jaxon coiuld not get to and one to SHaheed , but other than those two, he was on fire. He took a couple hard sacks - but did not fumble.

Funny how the narrative has been the defense priopping up the offense all season - but it was the offense that carried the day. That final drive - the clutch third down conversions - Klint Kubiak calling a master class on 'fuck the Rams' and The Darnold with ice water in his veins understanding the assignment.

Um, about that defense. All night, all I could think of was 'how can be getting no pressure, and still not be able to cover anyone?" Usually it's one of the other - but we managed to do both. I guess the Rams are our allegedly all-world defense's kryptonite because we have NO fucking answers for large chunks of the game and my blood pressure was shouting "fuck you very much' too often. Then the d finally gets that massive stop on 3rd and 12 - only for Woolen to pull the biggest turd of the year out of his pocket... not once but twice.

Ther Darnold narrative can be laid to rest. Dude carried us when needed and I could not be happier for him. I wanted him and Macdonald to hoist that trophy and feared Woolen's fuck up cost us that.

Then, when it was all on the line, they not only stop the Rams on our doorstep, they convert first down after first down after first down in the most epic display of "go fuck yourself McVey' and now we get to go to Santa Clara and make CHardonnay Nation weep those sweet sweet tears of bitterness. Dream season? Oh, you betcha!

Now, of course, the narrative is we're gonna destroy the Patriots in some 'revenge game' which is not that at all, and simply another game after the real Super Bowl was won in Seattle on a picture perfect evening in Seattle. I am not pumped for the SB - I really don't care.

What we just accomplished - beating the Niners, (then the Panthers), then the Lambs, then the niners again, then the Lambs again, and won them all. That is an absolute fucking marvel. No team in the NFL could pull that off and I don't think the enormity of that accomplishment of that string of wins can be adequately expressed - that is The Gauntlet of all Gauntlets.

Ater watching that shit show in Denver - both teams (before the snow) looked like straight fucking garbage. I mean, do we start Milroe just to make it look competitive? On paper this looks like an epic blow out, but I don't think it will be. It's also, sadly, an epic let down - after running the gauntlet that is the NFCW, how can this game even be interesting? This is a huge yawn for me, winning the SB would be a let down after last nights game, and the Niner beatdown before that, and the Lambs epic thriller berfore that, and the niner beating before that?

Reminds me of that Donkey beatdown in the SB, I told my buddy who is the biggest DOnkey fan in the world, that I don't think he quite understood how hard our division was that year, how there's really nothing you can show us to put any fear into us - while the Donkeys were running up the score against shit teams, we were battle SF and LA - even the Cards were formidable. This SB match up feels like that. This matchup has no sparkle, no intrigue, not real story lines coming out of the AFC. The Patriots did what they needed to do, but were underwhelming IMO.

All that said, fuck it, let's blow 'em out, raise that Lombardi, and drink in the bitter tears of Chardonnay Nation on thier field - and get The Darnold the MVP as a final fuck you to all the shit-for-brains "journalists" and thier pathetic, lazy narrative shilling.

For a guy coming off a hamstring and no game time, Holani was solid, in my opinion.

Thankfully, Woolen's stupidity did not cost us the game.

Kupp with the TD. Happy to see him score, especially against his former team. The guy sitting next to me kept saying, 'The Rams shouldn't have let him go'.

Njigba... dude catches EVERYTHING. That one-handed grab was pretty insane.

Super fun game and a great victory. And as you say, the SB will likely end up being a huge drop in excitement for SEA fans.

Really impressed with the way they got JSN back involved in the game plan. It really seemed like late in the season teams had sort of discovered a blueprint for keeping the ball out of his hands. First 11 games of the season he had 8 games over 100 yards while the last 7 including the playoffs he only had one game over 100 yards. It seems like they were extremely creative if finding ways to get him into favorable matchups.

I thought it was a bad miss early to Halani, and the fumbled snap was bad....and the ball to Barner that resulted in a FG instead of a TD? I'd add those to your list. But holy shit, you can win when you can count on one hand the plays the QB didn't totally execute on, right? He was incredible. And pretty much all the plays we are listing? Where early on. He didn't fold!

No shame in struggling to stop that Rams offense. Big props to the Offense, especially, as you stated....after Riq's mishap. I really do think that was a pathetic call, and all the shit the Rams got away with? It REALLY pissed me off they threw a flat there. But? Riq needed to walk away when he was told to. Very dumb.

Good comparison. We are far more battle tested. I wonder what will happen the first time we knock one of their WRs backwards!? THAT is the replay I want to see....Thomas getting knocked into the next week by Kam! I think that can be a similar fate for the Pats. They don't have the Rams O Line, they don't have the Rams WRs, and they don't have the experience of playing us already.

Our corners got toasted all game, but Spoon with the two breakups in thw end zone, plus tackling Nacua before he could get out of bounds for a Hail Mary opportunity. Don't underrate how big that was considering how successful the Hams were throwing the deep ball.

This is just so awesome. The Super Bowl is anticlimactic but hopefully we blow out the Pats.

It is the biggest event in all of Sports. This is our 4th one in 50 years and we have only won ONE. Saying it won't be exciting because last night's game was good is absurd.
