There were, but not so much anymore....unless you want Castellanos but he wants to be around MiamiDonn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:32 amYou really need to be careful about sample size when interpreting statistics. 269 at bats is a tiny sample size. That sites supply leverage stats doesn't mean they supply much in terms of valuable information. Can we trust Dom going forward? Who knows, that's really the nut, trying to predict future outcomes. I guess I'd look at it relatively. Were there better alternatives?

Like who? They weren't signing Schwarber, Ozuna? I think their approach to the dh position is reasonable this season. Ref and Dom as a platoon is a pretty good risk

Yep our DH spot has been a black hole for years but I think it will have above average production this season. I am a lot more worried about RF and 2B.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 3:36 amLike who? They weren't signing Schwarber, Ozuna? Mariners acquired LHP Josh Simpson from the Marlins for cash…whatever the hell that means.

Career ERA of 4.33 and WHIP of 1.284 in the minors and in 31 appearances for the Marlins at age 27 in 2025 an ERA of 7.34 and a WHIP of 1.826...I think that the cash is what the Marlins gave us to take him off their hands.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 7:04 pmMariners acquired LHP Josh Simpson from the Marlins for cash…whatever the hell that means.

He's been injured a lot, was injured last season, shoulder issues. I'm gonna assume he has some interesting parifurals, it's just a flyer if he ever gets healthy.
This from the yahoo article, am I missing something? That's like so wrong.. He's not going to be pitching this season

I’m not sure that today’s move of bringing in Josh Simpson from Miami to take Logan Evans’ spot on the 40-man will make Doolittle feel like the Mariners Didmore to address their lefty bullpen issues, but there is now another lefty in the mix along with Speier, Ferrer, and Ortiz

Just because I have $2000 in the bank doesn’t mean I’d throw it away on a 1991 Hyundai Excel.

Teams do this all the time. It's routine.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 8:46 pmDidn’t know we had money to throw around on a clunker.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 8:24 pmCareer ERA of 4.33 and WHIP of 1.284 in the minors and in 31 appearances for the Marlins at age 27 in 2025 an ERA of 7.34 and a WHIP of 1.826...I think that the cash is what the Marlins gave us to take him off their hands.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 7:04 pmMariners acquired LHP Josh Simpson from the Marlins for cash…whatever the hell that means.
