Colt: ROI PPI or an extra year of control

Post by D-train » Thu Feb 26, 2026 5:05 pm

Insane to put him on the OD roster in hopes he wins ROY netting us an extra draft pick. Their are currently TWENTY TWO other rookies listed by the Betting markets with better odds than him to win the ROY. Basically less than a 5% chance he wins it. If you hold him back you locking an extra year of control increasing his value by almost 20%. No brainer decision.

I haven't seen the word "glazing" used in this context before. I assume it's Gen-Z speak for "arguing for" or "rooting for", something like that. Or maybe the idea is that the "glaze" means to look at a thing in the most positive way possible, kind of like how people would use filters on their instagram pics to make themselves look better.

Anyway, I just find it interesting how the language evolves over time.

The Mariners have a long and storied history of rushing players to the majors. It's usually the wrong move. My observation of minors-to-majors success patterns is that success tends to correlate with the player demonstrating above average hitting proficiency in the upper minors over something like a full season sample size. I think the player benefits from the day to day exposure to upper level pitching staffs that know how to adjust against him in the game and across multiple games in a series, and in multiple series throughout the season.

I don't think he will be on the OD roster barring Cole Young totally sucking or JPs injury lingering or both...

I don't get the rush they put on these guys.

I'd rather see the winner of Rivas or Bliss get some steady time to start the season. Bring Young up if he's killing it and these other guys don't show much.

Let Emerson be the ROY next year, why even consider pushing the 21 year old with the depth they have in hand in front of him.

He is only 20 if you can believe that. Yet Jerry said that he has a chance to make the OD roster. Just crazy

Here is an idea. He can keep his fucking yapper shut for once instead of backing himself into a corner by not being able to resist every chance he can get to hype up his #1 prospect who has played 40 games above A ball. How about just let the kid play a pressure free ST without everyone telling how good he is and then make a decision when he needs to about a week before OD.

I remember this kid named Kelenic who started believing all that hype and it didn't work out so well.
