I finally saw the clip. I think what happened is that Cal was already set up behind the plate and thinking about the next pitch and how to get Randy out, and then Randy out of the blue puts his hand out and Cal just wasn't having it. Yes, they're teammates and presumably get along, but at that moment they're competing against each other.
