SSS... He doesn't get to pitch in many non save situations to begin withMillikin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 5:14 amOne season, a few years ago, Munoz was absolutely horrible in non-save situations. He was like sub 2.00 ERA in save situations and over 6.00 in non-save situations.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 5:04 amNo, he doesn't. It just seems that way because people perpetuate that myth so often that it's just assumed.Southpaw773 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:58 am
No it doesn’t. Munoz has a history of pitching really bad man when it’s not an actual save. But Dan has the memory of a goldfish.
--BUT--
Hasn't been true for him since then. For at least the last two season I think he's been just about the same no matter what the situation.

I think Woo's reliance on the 4-seam fastball and sinker puts an upper limit on how good he can be. We've seen how this works. When you throw the same pitches over and over again, eventually major league hitters will take advantage of that, especially on that third trip through the order.
Re: Dingers only Game Thread: Singles need not apply. Woooooo
Well he's the kind of guy that pinch hits for his DH, then pinch hits for his replacement DH with a utility player who then gets multiple at bats in critical moments. Who cares what he thinks*...Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:36 amYep, it's what Wilson is thinkingbpj wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:32 amI don't want either of those things.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:28 am
If you're going to platoon him and want to get him as many at bats against the leftie starter as possible might as lead him off
*Besides the Mariners.

This is such a perfect visualization of why a platoon DH is such a stupid idea:

It would be great to have a DH that raked left and right, but who is this guy? Polanco been nice with his switch hitting but are they going to pay $20 MIL for a DH? And even then I'll bet Polanco still goes to the Mets because he gets to play the field. The Mets use him at first, they used Brett Baty today at dh, his career .667 ops. I really don't think it's that easy a position to fill.
Re: Dingers only Game Thread: Singles need not apply. Woooooo
It's not easy to fill when you treat it like a merry-go-round for your mediocre bats and never hop on the good bats when they're available.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 7:55 amIt would be great to have a DH that raked left and right, but who is this guy? I dont need the DH to rake against both sides.
You just need him to rake sometimes and hold his own against opposite handed pitching so when the pitching changes in the 6th-9th innings, you're not stuck with Ryan effin Bliss because you didn't have to pull your DH out of the game like a candyass retard.
This stupidity they're pulling will go on all season.
Should Ryan Bliss ever get 2 DH at bats when you're down by a run in the final innings? The answer is, "No, never."

OK, so don't pinch hit for Canzone, I'm still platooning him and refsnyder. I don't see a reason not to give refsnyder starts against lefties. When the leftie comes out Canzone is the DH. There's no reason to start Canzone against a leftie is there?bpj wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 8:17 amIt's not easy to fill when you treat it like a merry-go-round for your mediocre bats and never hop on the good bats when they're available.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 7:55 amIt would be great to have a DH that raked left and right, but who is this guy? And I don't see a reason for Refsnyder to be on the team at all. At DH is preposterous.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 8:23 amOK, so don't pinch hit for Canzone, I'm still platooning him and refsnyder. You would rather Canzone gets the at bats against lefties. Don't platoon it, I'm not sure what we are gaining but OK

It's Seattle guys where everybody is equal and no one is better than anyone else & we talk about our feelings when were sad & we go to our safe spaces because loud noises triggers our fragile pea brains. Also anyone can identify as whatever they want in this case these players identify as lollipops because they suck. Now lets all hold hands as we cross the street kids. If John & Jerry got hit by a Greyhound bus tomorrow I would not be the least bit sad. Neither one has any business being in this business, period. Our pussy ass media don't got the balls to call these fuckers out on their bullshit. Can hire John Schneider to be our baseball GM too at least he can do a better job then Dipshit.
