Complaining about the defense at the point you were complaining about the defense is like losing a football game 21 to 0 and being pissed the punting net was only 39 yards. So fucking what, score!Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 2:32 amIt isn't an actual problem, it's multiple problems. I don't see a problem in complaining about all of them
Teams that have started 4-9 or worse.

There were losses where it could have been the difference. They dug themselves a hole with their lousy offense, they dug it deeper with some particularly lousy baseball in general IMichael K. wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 6:02 pmComplaining about the defense at the point you were complaining about the defense is like losing a football game 21 to 0 and being pissed the punting net was only 39 yards. I mean the premise of this thread was that the Mariners were probably doomed because they started 4-9. But now they're 8-9. Still doomed?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:52 pmYou mean like relatively? I noticed the Yankees are off to a pretty shitty start, batting average .202. Slugging .345, they are 8-7

I just posted facts and commented that they aren't making things easy by having slow starts EVERY single seasonMillikin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 11:18 pmI mean the premise of this thread was that the Mariners were probably doomed because they started 4-9. Terms of excuses, I notice the Yankees are pointing at the cold in the Bronx. Has it been particularly cold in Seattle? I've brought it up before, there could be a relationship between going from warm weather in Arizona and Florida to cold weather in Seattle and NYC.
