If he's your two hitter I'm OK with that. I'm curious why he's the 2 hitter. Wilson is an idiot for batting him second. But Wilson isn't an idiot. I'm always just more curious about an explanation than ranting about how dumb something is
I think the answer you crave is the old chestnut of analytics. The #2 hitter mathematically gets more ABs in a season than the #3 or #4 etc.

Forget the old school reasoning for your line-up card.

I think I read it somewhere as far back as the SS era.

It's not so much his current situation, I've never understood batting Cal second. I understand not switching the lineup around because someone is struggling. Then you just end up trying to chase hitting streaks
I can see not moving a guy down after 20,30 or even 50 PAs but we hit the quarter pole tomorrow. He will have about 160 PAs. Move him down until he starts hitting. It is done all the time but the are so afraid of giving the appearance that they are panicking they do nothing and slow play it way too long. Happens every single season.

Gary Hill taking over when Risz is gone next year will be a big downgrade.
He just used his homerun tone for an infield pop up.

IT'S A TOWERING pop-up in the infield. 2 outs.
His gs call was horrid also. Dave is rolling in his grave. Wish Rizz was calling it but doesent matter now its 0-0 again.

Yeah, I was thinking that, a combination of getting him at bats and his proficiency at home runs. Turns on the value of a home run

Being taken out after hitting a granny is gonna be major buzz kill. LEAVE THEM THE FKKK IN DAN. DONT NEED REFS OR JOE.

Fkkkk well that ended badly. Ughhhhh. Hopefully 1 run isn't 2 much for Hancock

I'm talking about the last 3 games after he missed several with some injury. They didn't need to put him back in the 2-hole and there was no continuity to disrupt at that point. And yes, he should not ever bat second.

It made sense last season. He hit 60 bombs and had a decent OBP. It makes zero sense this season.

Which is why it is ludicrous to give a guy with a .250 OBP the second most PAs on the team.

I was going to add. I don't think it's being old school actually. An analytical approach would be to stack your lineup according to your best hitters. Mike trout has always batted second. Because Cal can deliver home runs does that basically make him your best hitter?
