Players that we wanted to go after
And these are players that appeared to be very attainable that if memory serves (and that's a big if) at least two of us here in this esteemed forum wanted to go after.
Yandy Diaz - batting .303 with an OPS of .830
Pete Alonso - batting .210 with an OPS of .734 (8 HRs)
Kazuma Okamoto - batting .248 with an OPS of .806 (10 HRs)
Jarren Duran - batting .194 with an OPS of .577
Munetaka Murakami - batting .232 with an OPS of .920 (15 HRs)
Bo Bichette - batting .222 with an OPS of .559
Nico Hoerner - batting .278 with an OPS of .777
Ryan O'Hearn - batting .289 with an OPS of .802
Ketel Marte - batting .213 with an OPS of .640
Of particular interest to us were Okamoto, Murakami, Bichette, Hoerner and Marte. Okamoto and Murakami are producing and just about every team in the league is kicking itself at the moment for passing up Murakami.
Bichette, Hoerner and Marte are the names we threw around as infielders along with Brendan Donovan. Hoerner would have been a great get, Bichette should snap out of his slump, but Marte might be hitting a wall at 32 so maybe we dodged a bullet there.
I think we're all happy with Donovan at this point, but the Mariners blew it by not going after Murakami. If we had him playing 3B/DH we're at the very least trading places with the A'ss.

I beat the Drum for Diaz pretty hard. Might not have actually been available but he would have been nice to have.

Well at least we managed to dump Arozarena for a reliever, oh wait

I wonder who in this forum had that bright idea. The last thing you want to do is trade a productive outfielder for a fickle bullpen arm.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 3:41 amWell at least we managed to dump Arozarena for a reliever, oh wait

That was a shot at bpj. I think we should give credit for deals that didn't get done. Refsnyder seems a flop but Arozarena so far has been a keeperDavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 5:20 pmI wonder who in this forum had that bright idea. A shot from Donn Gorgon. Lol. Sounds like a compliment.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 6:03 pmThat was a shot at bpj. I think we should give credit for deals that didn't get done. I'd still trade him right now in a heartbeat.
We won't have anything for him next season and we're a game under .500 while he's been playing well. Congrats on the "win". Lol.
I'll still bet on a down season from Arozarena if anyone wants to take it. Sub-.760 OPS by end of season.
Re: Players that we wanted to go after
Yeah not sure if we should even include guys that didn't get moved. Naylor had a horrible start but he will be better long term than Yandy. He has been on fire for about a month.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 8:10 pmI beat the Drum for Diaz pretty hard. Might not have actually been available but he would have been nice to have.

We better at least get a draft pick out of him. I think he is a lock to test FA just like Teo.bpj wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 10:56 pmA shot from Donn Gorgon. Lol. Re: Players that we wanted to go after
Yeah, Dipoto is letting Arozarena walk. Donovan could help with that transition
Re: Players that we wanted to go after
Yep we will need either a 3B or LF next season. There won't be any in house options unless Arroyo hits a lot better for the rest of the season.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2026 12:00 amYeah, Dipoto is letting Arozarena walk. Donovan could help with that transition
