If I Told You on Opening Day....

Post by Captain 97 » Tue May 19, 2026 4:55 pm

If I told you on Opening day that on May 19th......
Luke Raley would have 10 Bombs and an OPS of .900
Randy would be hitting .305 on pace for 6.6 WAR.
Cole Young was the top defensive second baseman in Baseball on pace for a 6.2 WAR
Ferrer would have a 1.61 ERA
Emmerson Hancock would have a 131 ERA+ in 9 starts
And that all of the other teams in the AL west were under .500

You would have thought that this team would have been cruising.

This is such a bizarre season. I am not sure if its just the injuries or if its something more but something just seems off and listless with this team.

Munoz 5.00 ERA on pace for -1.3 WAR

DFA Refsynder and have Wisdom DH vs lefties.

DFA Connor Joe and start Brennan Davis vs lefties in the OF and have him PH against lefty relievers for Raley and Canzone.

Get Cal, Julio, Naylor up to passable levels of play.

Get Donovan healthy.

Move Castillo to the BP in late relief.

It’s a very good club with all this done IMO.

DFA Refsynder and have Wisdom DH vs lefties. There are only $6M reasons they haven't done this yet and its fucking disgusting Wisdom is at .360/1.648 vs. LHPs...cut those in HALF and he is still massively better than Fuckfacesnyder

DFA Connor Joe and start Brennan Davis vs lefties in the OF and have him PH against lefty relievers for Raley and Canzone. Another OBVIOUS move. Davis is at .361/1.183 vs. LHPs

Get Cal, Julio, Naylor up to passable levels of play. Cal was lost before he got hurt so not sure what can be done other than pray.

Get Donovan healthy. That really doesn't matter because he has no place to play where he would be an upgrade unless Colt sucks and gets sent down.

Move Castillo to the BP in late relief. That's what they are doing even though they are spewing nonsense pretending they aren't for appearances and PR

It’s a very good club with all this done IMO.

Can we add getting a new manager to the list? I never thought I'd see anyone worse than Scott, but here we are.

Guessing it would take two straight seasons under .500 to cost Dan his job.

He's so clueless. How can even the most casual of fans not see his stupidity? How do we keep putting up with managerial ineptitude?

You know, in almost every job I have had, and in almost every job I can think of, people have performance reviews. If you suck, you're on a PIP. If you continue to suck, you are unceremoniously shown to the door which will not smack your ass on the way out.

In other thread I jokingly said we should hire Alex Cora. But I am actually not. He's available. He likely has an axe to grind for being the fall guy in the Red Sox nation brouhaha. He has a .534 winning record, he's 8-3 in the post season, and he led the the Red Sox to a historic 108-win season and a World Series title in 2018.

The most embarrassing thing of all is that we let Stephen Vogt go to the Guardians where he kicked ass and took names while it was clear for years that Servias was out of his depth.

We were an eyelash from making a World Series and the baseball Gods can't stand it.

It's more likely that we threaten our last "longest playoff draught in North America" than get back to that point again. I need to just accept it, but it sure pisses me off. I just believe that another ownership group, and someone not named Dipoto could have had this team more successful sooner, and for longer periods. But we'll just shoot for 86 wins and a stadium that is full enough to make money.

Davis's home/away stats in the PCL could be what's holding up his promotion to Seattle. Essentially, he's destroying PCL pitching on the road and not so much in Cheney Stadium, which is more of a pitcher's park.
