Guessing he isn't the one putting the absolute literal worst hitter in baseball at leadoff either. Guessing Lou didn't teach him that. Lou's last leadoff hitter was Ichiro.

It's wild the way these hitters come here and that's just it for them. I imagine Ref would do okay in a different park.

.075/.221 Yeah that is a .221 OPS at home. LMAOGL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 8:44 pmIt's wild the way these hitters come here and that's just it for them. I imagine Ref would do okay in a different park.

What's wild to me is how Dipoto's dumbass keeps signing the same type of bums year after year. Playing the bottom of the market instead of finding actual answers for obvious vacancies.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 8:44 pmIt's wild the way these hitters come here and that's just it for them. It was pretty obvious that wasn't going to work. Some people here got starry eyes like they do every offseason, "Maybe it'll work this time!", but the writing was on the wall all along imo.
Re: If I Told You on Opening Day....
Prob not a coincidence all three of his good seasons have come with the Red Sox hitting at Fenway half the time..

I don't think any one thing can explain the sudden cliff dive. In six months he goes from being mlb best hitter against left handed pitching to can't hit it at all? come on. I think he's gotten older, he's changed stadiums and I think there's something wrong with him, an injury. It's got to be a collection of things. It's crazy

This is kinda interesting, a look at Arozarena's hitting profile. Seems like something for the, don't swing as hard crowd. His hard hit and barrel rates are down, but he's also cut down on pop-ups.
https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/onsi/ra ... -hot-startArozarena is running a 24.4 line-drive percentage this season, up from 21.3 last year and above his player average of 21.5. His ground-ball rate is also up to 53.3 percent, which is not exactly ideal, but paired with fewer popups and more line drives, it paints a different picture.
He’s trading some high-end impact for cleaner contact distribution. That doesn’t erase the gap between his BA and xBA, but it explains why this doesn’t feel like random luck.

It is inexplicable. If it was and injury I am sure he would have said something instead of looking like a complete fool at the plate for almost 2 months.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2026 4:04 amI don't think any one thing can explain the sudden cliff dive. Players don't generally, that's just making excuses. There's something I bet , it's not major. It be like a combination of like age and a stiff back.D-train wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2026 4:24 amIt is inexplicable. Manager Dan Wilson said Friday that Refsnyder is dealing with a couple of "minor ailments," Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports

Re: If I Told You on Opening Day....
Here's an article about it, doesn't really have much insight other than there isn't much hope in terms of underlying numbers.
100 PAs?In one respect you must hand it to the Mariners for continuing to give Refsnyder at-bats, hoping he can rediscover the proficiency he's had versus lefites throughout his career. Although you do have to wonder why the heck they've used him in the leadoff spot of all places, given his struggles? In 11 games at the top of the order he's just 4-for-35 with 11 strikeouts.
https://sodomojo.com/dan-wilson-s-favor ... the-rosterOn the subject of home, it's fair to question how much more time Refsnyder will be given in Seattle? He doesn't offer speed or defensive versatility, making it tough to justify rostering a guy who can't even hit. We wonder if the point of no return will be 100 plate appearances as it was with Leody Taveras before he got canned, and with Refsnyder now at 75 plate appearances, the clock is ticking
