I get the impression that's how the wealthier owners beat the cap. Lots of guaranteed money and willingness (and ability) to eat contracts once cap hits become untenable and there is no dead cap on the books. That might not be totally accurate but if you look at the way Garrett's contract is structured his cap hits in the first 3 years are relatively small and the dead cap is gone after 2 seasons.

There's also things like stadium improvements/upgrades and how those get funded.

Yeah, Arte Moreno has a reputation for giving some large contracts but I believe he's really considered a pretty cheap owner. He doesn't bother investing in the rest of the organization. He's a fanboy. Stanton has a reputation for being cheap but on the other hand I think they have done a good job of building an organization which does take investment. They all are going to make money. Nobody is just spending their money on a team for the hell of it these days. A deeper pocketed mariners owner might be willing to invest at a higher rate but I'm not sure that's a given.

The Seahawks have some first rate facilities. A training facility on lake Washington? lol. Remember when they would train in Cheney, times have changed. That was a function of Allen's wealth and desire to be first cabin

Though it's not ranked as one of the best. That's the arms race there.
The Miami Dolphins and the Minnesota Vikings have the best training facilities in the NFL, based on player consensus and evaluation. Player feedback collected by the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) consistently awards these franchises the top marks in the league for their high-quality weight rooms, state-of-the-art training rooms, expert strength staffs, and premium dining services.

Here is a breakdown of what makes these facilities elite, along with other highly-rated team HQs across the leaguea:

1. Miami Dolphins (Baptist Health Training Complex)NFLPA Rating: Voted the #1 overall organization by players.Facilities: The training complex features a massive 125,000-square-foot footprint in Miami Gardens, boasting top-tier hydrotherapy pools, cryotherapy, and an advanced, spacious weight room.Staff: Players give high marks to the personalized training plans, nutritionists, and top-rated strength coaches.

2. Minnesota Vikings (TCO Performance Center)NFLPA Rating: Ranked #2 overall.Facilities: Located in Eagan, Minnesota, this 6,000-seat stadium and 400,000-square-foot practice facility is one of the largest in sports. It includes massive indoor/outdoor practice fields and customized recovery bays.Staff: The medical, training, and strength staffs received near-perfect scores for their individualized care and expertise.

3. Other Top-Tier Training CentersDallas Cowboys (The Star in Frisco): Highly acclaimed for their massive player campus, which includes a dedicated sports medicine center, hydrotherapy, and a world-class training/weight area.

Los Angeles Chargers (The Bolt): A massive 150,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in El Segundo features a 7,000-square-foot weight room and indoor-outdoor blending, resulting in major jumps in player satisfaction.

Las Vegas Raiders (Intermountain Health Performance Center): A highly advanced, 320,000-square-foot training hub featuring multiple turf fields, climate control, and advanced nutrition stations
Seems the Seahawks have some catching up to do. Yeah, I want a rich owner lol

Remember Jimmy Graham flying to practice in his float plane. That just seemed unbelievably cool.

You noticed the other guy, the stinking 49ers owner. That was kinda buried in your article. There's two offers coming in supposedly
Vinod Khosla, the co-founder of Sun Microsystems and a recent investor in the San Francisco 49ers, is preparing a bid to purchase the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks, according to a report from Sportico on Thursday morning. Khosla recently submitted a letter of intent as part of the process, per the report
Kudos for being all over that one back on May 7.

The estate of the late Paul G. Allen announced Saturday that it has reached a formal agreement to sell the Seattle Seahawks to an ownership group led by the Khosla family, including venture capitalist and co-founder of Sun Microsystems, Vinod Khosla. The sale price has not been officially disclosed, but Sportico reported the deal is expected to close at $9.6 billion.

If confirmed, it would shatter the existing record for the most ever paid for an NFL franchise, surpassing the $6.05 billion paid for the Washington Commanders in July 2023, which at the time was the most money ever paid for a sports franchise. (That record was broken by the $10 billion Los Angeles Lakers sale in 2025.) The NFL’s 31 other owners must approve the transaction, with a vote expected as early as August 26.

What makes the transaction particularly unique is where the money goes. Under the terms of Allen’s will, proceeds from the sale are to be donated to charity, with the majority directed to Allen Family Philanthropies, a Seattle-based nonprofit that invests in arts and culture, youth leadership, and environmental and bioscience research.
