The tweet was just this year's players and the majority of the names were minor league call up guys making the minimum.

But those guys are on the roster getting playing time so. Just focus on the actual guys making real money. That might help see the point...

Worst part is Donovan might miss the rest of the season and Naylor's salary is going to escalate significantly...

Refsnyder - $6M
Garver - $2.25M
Naylor - $11M (1 year would have probably been a fine risk. 5 was insane, and he goes from $11M to $18M, so the real questionable years are still to come)

Which leads us to guys like Luis Castillo ($24M who I've been begging them to trade for two years)

And JP Crawford who was a blah contract extension from the beginning. Probably earned it in terms of WAR. Still, even a guy like Colt Emerson isnt much of a dropoff if at all.

I'd say they wasted at least $30M this season in terms of new signings, and guys they should have traded by now.

And that's before paying more now for guys like Julio and Emerson for the right to sign them long term, giving up their cheap years of control for more control later. Guess we'll see if we even want that control when the time comes...

Doesn't even get into guys like Robles ($5M) or Munoz ($7M) because at least there's a case to be made for their contracts imo.

I'll be the first to say there are fewer problems on this roster than most years. Goodish job Dipoto, I guess. The issue is the problems with the roster are exactly what we knew they were going to be because they were so obvious.

And for the eleventh year in a row, Dipoto was incapable of filling them.

Same guy that let Nelson Cruz walk for like $8M so he could rotate guys at DH. Has zero clue how to build a hitting roster.
