Poll: Walker or Shaheed

Do you now wish that Walker could have been re-signed even if it meant losing Shaheed?

Walker on when he decided he wasn't going to play in Seattle any longer. The guy didn't want to play for the seahawks, all this angst over a guy that didn't want to play there
"If I'm being honest, probably sometime during the season," Walker told Florio. "Things didn't work out how I was expecting them to, and that's alright. It worked out for the team. But yeah, sometime during the season. And then we get to free agency, and you're pretty much knowing you weren't going to be there."
That just sounds like the words of someone that was butthurt that he wasn't offered a big contract by his former team. He also said this right before the Superbowl...
“I've been here four years, so you know I've gotten to know a lot of stuff about Seattle, and you know a lot of the city, and I feel like they feel good about me as well,” he said. “So if it was my choice, though, I'd definitely stay.”
The reality is that none of us knows what he was thinking leading up to free agency. We do know, however, that the Seahawks weren't interested in paying him his value on the market because they didn't make on offer prior to the FA period, didn't attempt to match KC's offer later, and opted not to use the franchise or transition tags on him. Instead they decided to offer Shaheed a contract larger than what Walker got from KC.

LOVE Price but this has nothing to do with him. Could have Walker AND price right now instead of Shaheed
Yeah, it wasn't about walker or Shaheed. It also wasn't about ways to have kept walker. Walker didn't want to be a Seahawk, hard stop
You don't know that.

Of all the other signings/extensions that they prioritized above keeping Walker, the contract they offered Shaheed stands out because it was for a similar amount and same number of years, and his value was mainly as a special teams player. Had they signed Walker, it is my opinion that they wouldn't have made Shaheed that offer and that it was the most questionable one they made.

In any case, i never stated it was an either/or scenario for the Seahawks. I am simply posing the question "who would you rather have?".

Did you miss that? Walker decided midway through the season he didn't want to play there anymore

Walker did not want to play in Seattle, 100%. It wasn't about offers or promising him more carries, he didn't want to be there. Why be concerned about a guy that didn't want to be a seahawk? I honestly don't get it. We just endured a nightmare of a baseball season. Now we have the world champion seahawks to enjoy, we have the a coach on an 11 game winning streak, the youngest coach to do that. We have a great young team, a great young RB that wants to be here. You guys crying in your beer over a guy that didnt want to be a seahawk lol

Look at what he says, it worked out for the team but not for him. The team and him were two separate entities. I don't want to criticize him because he did his job, what he was asked to do without being a distraction. But walker wasn't a seahawk, he says it there
That doesn't compute for me given we supposedly have the best culture in the league. What could it be if not number of carries????

That was exactly what it was, he wasn't happy with how he was being used. He spoke about it. I was looking for other comments he has made about it when I found that one. He had talked about calling his father at night after games because he was upset. He said it helped him understand how he needed to learn to just deal with it. I applaud the guy, he handled it like a professional. He wasn't suited for the Seahawks. Should the seahawks have adjusted for him? You're talking about a hof GM and maybe the best coach in the NFL coming off winning the SB. They don't to accommodate any player. I don't think there was any animosity, it was shaking hands, a hug and moving on.

Imagine if he had the type of father that make a federal case out of it. Go the press that they were abusing his son, that's a dodged bullet. Sounds like he got sound advice

Near the end of the season last year, mostly after Charbs went down, Walker changed his running a little. He was more patient. He was trusting his blocks more. It was paying dividends. His best two runs in a game were just as likely to be between the tackles as the "bounce and go around" run. I thought it was a big enough deal to redefine where the ceiling was for K9. I thought there was good reason to kiss ass a little and do what K9 wanted to keep him on the team. He's not a dipshit like DK and Woolen. Anyone who could babysit drunk John Schneider at the SB parade can't be a bad guy.

I'm not but hurt it turned out the way it did. I think it's fun having a dude like Shaheed on the team too. I like Price so far. I'm just saying I think there was a good case to be made to pay him enough and promise him a higher percentage of the carries.

I liked walker quite a bit and he came on strong late in the season when we really needed him to, and he def took better advantage of the blocking in front of him. Losing him was tough, but I understand the math behind it. It's also smarter to split carries in the NFL if you have the personnel to do so. Seattle does. It's a 20 game season to win the SB - it takes a huge toll. If Walker was getting more carries - he may not have had the gas or the legs for the stretch run. People keep forgetting just how long the season is. 20 games. Price is a lower cost option, younger, cheaper. It's a stategic move that I support. It's got nothing to do with not wanting Walker. The money simply needs to go elsewhere - also - we have a massive draft haul coming up - we can add another cheap RB. This is "playing the long game."

The hot item in sports these days, the extension of anylitics is load management. I believe JS is a big believer in it. It has controversial aspects, particularly in the NBA these days.
